Description With the looming possibility of the Dark Side, a cabal of demonic sorcerers bent on world domination, returning to Earth as part of an ever-looping prophecy, a future-born time-traveller named Orion and his two allies, Shiloh and Barda, have come to the Justice League, or what remains of them, to offer their help in fighting against them. They also explained their side of the story regarding the Dark Side.

You see, it all started with the fall of the Lords of Order and Chaos, the ones who locked away the Dark Side in the first place. One of the highest-ranked Lords, Isaiah, broke from what remained of them and formed a new life. His wife Avia, a prophetess, foresaw a horrid future of Earth enslaved by a great darkness, that the goodness of the world will be plagued by the influence of the darkness until their evil reign is finished being built upon a bedrock of despair. They gathered as many followers as possible and isolated themselves from the rest of humankind in a powerful hidden society called Genesis. Genesis has remained hidden from civilized society and formed wonderful, alien-like technology to support themselves and Isaiah's title Highfather became the title for the monarch of Genesis.

In Orion's version of the future, the people of Genesis left Earth and colonized a new world called New Genesis to escape the Dark Side; New Genesis was embroiled in a massive war against the new evil empire of Earth, renamed Apocalypse, which is ruled by Orion's father Uxas, the leader of the Dark Side. Orion lost his own mother to suicide over the abuse she suffered at the hands of her husband, and Orion joined New Genesis' side of the war in retaliation. Uxas counter-attacked by creating a revenant of Orion's mother to decieve and betray the Genesians, slaughtering their royal family and forcing Orion to kill his own mother. Orion returned to Apocalypse to fight his father, but lost and was tossed into the atomic firepits of Apocalypse for his trouble. Orion survived and found the Throne of Mobius, a super-computer used by the deceased Genesian scientist Metron, and created a time-travel component for his Mother Box computer. He traveled to this era, to old Genesis, and told the Highfather of this year of his ordeal. The Highfather didn't believe him, and even if he did, he would refuse to spend their kingdom's resources to help stop the Dark Side's followers. However, Highfather's son, Shiloh, and Barda, Shiloh's beloved and captain of the royal guard, believed him and followed him to the outside world. They learned of the meta-talented individuals that call themselves The Justice League, and sought them out when they learned that they also oppose the Dark Side's return and kill Uxas.

The Justice League agreed to their help against the Dark Side and their acolytes, Algol, but recent events have reduced their numbers to just Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, and Dr. Jones. If Uxas and his cronies are truly as powerful as Orion claims, they'll need an army of superheroes to face him. Wonder Woman said that, if they succeed, Orion's existence might be undone. Orion said that it's a sacrifice he's willing to make...

Notes:
* There are two possible futures at this point: either the League wins and the Dark Side is exiled from the decimated Earth, leading to it's transformation into Ilnolmed, the birth world of the now-deceased Superman, and the rise of S'Tar-Ro and the Legion, or the League fails and Dark Side takes over Earth, and soon all of existence.
* Orion's design is based on his New52 incarnation, with his helmet being mostly a visor in the shape of his horns.
* Shiloh's design is supposed to be a little more simple than his original "Mister Miracle" costume from the main comics. Mainly, get rid of the yellow colors, mask, and cape.
** I also went with the more recent Mr. Miracle's name, Shiloh, instead of Scott, since it's more biblical.
* The Mother Box in Shiloh's hand is more minimalistic and iPhone-like than the original Kirby designs, much like I did with Brainiac.
* For Barda, I got rid of the golden colors and cape, and replaced the helmet with a headband.
* Avia's brother, Nabu, is another prophet and creator of the Golden Helm of Foresight, a magic item used by a certain sorcerer we'll meet later...

So just to be clear, the Seven Sins and the Dark Side are the same thing, right?

Kinda seems like we're near the end of Absolute DC now.

Wait, are Batman and GL really not reliable for the impending battle? As far as it goes, Superman's death and the New God's arrival all took place within the same day; I would think Bruce and Alex were just busy locking up their respective villains and had no free time to check their phones.

Interesting choice in adding parallel timelines to the New Gods mythos; it definitely heightens the stakes by bringingΒ Apokolips closer to home, so to speak. Seems that, either way, Earth is doomed to be attacked by aliens; with the Ilnolmed timeline, it'll just be further off.

Now that Superman is out of commission, might there be a chance Clark steps up to the plate? He's got to be over 18 by now.

Also, I love your slick redesigns of the New Gods here; I can actually believe they are from a technologically superior, ancient aliens-type society.

I was going to ask the same question about Clark.

This is exactly what I was hoping for. I finally get how it all works. I think it's a great step to go in.

Hmm, will Doctor Fate be a factor in the fight against the Dark Side? Because that'd be cool.
