Description
Somewhere in Florida, in the dead of night, a silent alarm rang out from a major technology firm’s server banks and security cameras picked up images of the perpetrators. The Titans, a powerful team of superheroes, recognized the criminals as The Fearsome Five, a team of metacriminals who once served the Cult of Algol. The membership consisted of their leader Jinx, a golemic sorceress, Gizmo, a tech genius, the twins Mammoth and Shimmer, and a mysterious new fifth member replacing Doctor Light. This team of Titans, consisting of Kid Flash, Cyborg, Tempest, and the Titans’ leader Raven, flew down to the facility on their T-Ship to confront the Five. The four Titans encountered the new member of the Five, a woman calling herself Psimon, in the main server room. Then, the other four attacked the Titans from an ambush spot. As they did battle, Psimon effortlessly collected the data discs they wanted as Gizmo launched several drones that exploded in iron-filament incapacitation gel. The heroes were trapped, and Raven, unable to conjure her magic after Jinx cuffed her with a collar scrawled with warding runes, demanded to know what the Five wanted. Psimon simply took the data discs, lifted them with her telekinesis, and shattered them. Psimon said she only enacted this plan to get close to Raven, as her master Trigon, the alias of Raven’s evil father, commanded her to capture her to fulfill her purpose. Jinx, holding animosity towards her creator Trigon for betraying her, realized that Psimon was about to betray her too and tried to attack with her magic; Psimon simply used her telekinesis to break Jinx’s left arm. Jinx then ordered the remaining Fearsome Five members to attack Psimon. It was too late, however, as Psimon opened a wormhole from her forehead at sucked in both the other villains and the trapped Titans! Wally West, aka Kid Flash, is the first one we find, lost in an unknown forest caught in a blizzard. When he awoke, unable to utilize his superhuman speed with his broken leg, Kid Flash pulled himself towards a cave to find shelter from the storm. Normally, he can heal his broken bones faster than a normal person can, but the freezing weather slowed that down immensely. He could recall that, in his unconsciousness, Psimon’s voice told him, and presumably the others as well, that they are “going to be there awhile”. Meanwhile, the other heroes and villains absorbed by Psimon were not fairing as well. Raven and Tempest were lost in a desert; the sun’s heat sapping the Atlantean’s strength as Raven struggled to remove the runic collar that suppresses her powers. The twins Mammoth and Shimmer were lost on a rocky plain, and Cyborg and Gizmo, each with their respective tech damaged, have to work together to navigate a thick jungle. What all four of these realms have in common is there is a tower in the distance, shielded by a barrier of energy; if they want to stand a chance, they have to reach the tower. When Wally managed to reach the cave, one illuminated by glowing fungi, a hand was held to him that threatened the hero. It was Jinx, who did not want to be hurt any further by a Titan. Wally talked her down, as either of them are in no shape to fight. He has a broken leg, and she has a broken arm, so perhaps they should work together to survive. Jinx agreed with Wally and sat down among the mushrooms, still feeling pain from her arm and the chilling elements. It was still freezing, despite being out of the blizzard, and she was shivering. Wally took off his chest, arm, and head armor and held Jinx, intending to keep each other warm with their own body heat. They fell asleep waiting out the storm… When the blizzard finally subsided and what seemed like morning came, Wally and Jinx tried to venture out of the cave to get to the tower they saw before they each got to the cavern. Wally’s leg was healed considerably and he could stand, but he still needed Jinx to support him. To condense this story, all of the metahumans reached the same tower in the center of this region and they touched the energy shield. Back with Psimon, she, as her alter ego Simone Jones, was at an airport; she was there to deliver Raven, trapped in a pocket dimension of her creation, to her father Trigon. Agents of The DEO were patrolling the area for her, but she had evaded them and had gotten to her gate. But, when she got there, Simone convulsed in pain and expelled the prisoners of her pocket dimension. The Titans and the four metacriminals were released and caused Psimon to drop her disguise. Psimon launched a telekinetic pulse that managed to strike only Jinx, breaking her left leg. With Raven’s inhibitor collar broken by the impulse going past, she unleashed her magic powers to defeat Psimon. Agents of the DEO arrived as Gizmo, Mammoth, and Shimmer made a break for it, promising to rescue Jinx as soon as they can. The DEO arrested Psimon, but Raven and the recovering Titans convinced them to let them take Jinx into their custody. The lead DEO agent agreed and the Titans left with an unconscious Jinx in their custody. Back at the Titans’ headquarters in Miami, Jinx was in the infirmary, still unconscious, with anti-magic warding runes painted on the walls. The entirety of the Titans discussed what to do with her. So far, it’s only Kid Flash and Raven who want to keep Jinx out of prison…
Notes:
* Psimon is a Homo magi (a natural-born magic user), whose powers were dramatically advanced by Trigon.
** Her otherwise-exposed brain is protected by a scalpless skull of organic crystal.
*** Simone Jones wears a wig when she is not Psimon.
** Psimon’s pocket dimension is connected to her physiology. Escaping via the tower in the center causes her pain.
