Description
In a coastal mansion in the Mediterranean, a young woman was escorted to it by bodyguards hired by the mansion’s owner. The woman, Lena Luthor, was invited by a mysterious person who contacted her anonymously. She was flown in from New York City to Italy, and the bodyguards drove her to the manor. In the manor’s main study, she met with the owner. As it turns out, it was none other than her long-lost elder brother, Alexander “Lex” Luthor. Lena asked Lex what was going on, and he explained everything. That his cancer had gone into remission and that he stole the remainder of the $3.3 Billion that Bruce Wayne had donated to him for medical coverage to form his criminal empire. Now Lex wants Lena to join him as he takes down the new Superman (not revealing Superman to her to be their friend Clark Kent) and his team, the Justice League. Lena was shocked and confused, so Lex brought her to the subbasement of the mansion. This is where Lena was introduced to The Doomed, a team of superhuman villains Lex has assembled. This team consists of the Scarecrow, the Cheetah, Giganta, Sinestro, Zoom, Grod the Gorilla, the Manta, Killer Frost, Bizarro, and Solomon Grundy (the latter two being contained in cryogenic preservation pods). Deathstroke, being a kill-for-hire, was on another job, and the Joker, a serial killer, died during the Crisis of Infinite Earths. The icing on this cake, however, was a suit of battle armor that Lex designed and built for Lena to use, replete with weapons based on the element krypton, which is Superman’s weakness. In the end, Lena refused to work for The Doomed or to hurt Superman. Zoom and Killer Frost, two of the smartest members of the Doomed, protested Lex bringing his sister here, saying she could have a means for the Justice League to track her and lead their HQ to them. Lex refuted these concerns and said that she was searched for every means of tracking he can discern. The Doomed’s headquarters are even lined with lead, a metal that Superman and his kind cannot see through with their enhanced vision. But, just then, Superman busted through the roof of the subbasement at great speeds, having tracked Lena to Lex and his team. The rest of the Justice League, the Batman, Robin, Green Lantern, the Flash, Aquaman, Green Arrow, Blue Beetle, Booster Gold & Skeets, and even their associate member The Atom, followed Superman into the Doomed’s underground facility (Wonder Woman was busy with a more important assignment that just came up). Without a second to waste, Lex pressed a button on his person to unfreeze Bizarro and Solomon Grundy and he commanded his team to attack. The JL and the Doomed went blow-for-blow inside and outside the underground base and the mansion grounds. Lex pulled Lena aside and demanded to know how she was able to reveal to the JL where she was. Lena denied working with the JL and Lex ran off to get into his armor, leaving her in a panic room. The armor Lex was running for was blasted by Superman’s laser vision and destroyed before Lex could get to it. Supes then revealed that he memorized Lena’s heartbeat when he last met her as Clark Kent and could hear it from many miles away. That’s when Bizarro tackled Superman out of midair and they did battle. As for the rest of the heroes and villains, Batman (the superhero identity of the aforementioned Bruce Wayne) and Robin defeated Scarecrow and Cheetah, Green Lantern disarmed her former mentor Sinestro of his Yellow Lantern Device, Aquaman bested Manta, The Atom disabled Giganta’s cybernetics, Green Arrow loosed an electric arrow at Grundy to knock him out, while Blue Beetle and Booster Gold took down Grod and Killer Frost. But as for Flash Vs. Zoom, the two speedsters clashed so hard and fast that Zoom himself disappeared into thin air before he could land a blow on Flash. With his team losing, Lex pressed another button on his person that triggered the countdown for a self-destruct feature to the base. Superman bested Bizarro at this point, so he grabbed Lena and flew her as far away from the resulting blast as possible. Lex disappeared in a submersible hidden beneath the base as Green Lantern air-lifted her teammates who can’t fly and the defeated Doomed members away from the base before it exploded. In the end, the captured Doomed members were taken into custody by the European defense agency ARGUS. Lena cried in Superman’s arms over her brother’s turn to evil, and Supes promised to find him and bring him to justice. But Flash can’t help but wonder what happened to Zoom... Zoom, meanwhile, reappeared in an American city, but it was seemingly destroyed by recent warfare. Wondering what happened, Zoom, exhausted and powerless, was captured by two armed robots… one colored red and another colored yellow...
