Description After seeing the new Astroboy film at the cinema last week (and enjoying it I might add!) iIfelt the need to add some new stamps to my journal stamp collection in honor of the 'God of Manga' himself, Osamu Tezuka. There are quite a few stamps dedicated to the great man and his work on DA, but there don't seem to be any really general stamps covering his most popular work, only individual stamps for the different series' he's made (Astroboy, Black Jack, Unico etc)

So here's a stamp for overall Tezuka support. Yes I know that I've not included ALL his manga, anime and short films. I stuck to the main ones depending on what pictures I could find.

For example, I've not included Apollo because the only pictures I could find were of the cover...and IMHO the cover art sucks Or Metropolis because it's the MANGA not the FILM that Tezuka is credited to, and there are so few images from the original manga and hundreds from the film.

There are others, like Triton and Jetter Mars which I thought were too obscure...so again, stick with the ones everyone knows ...cept Aoi Blink which very few people remember, but was the last anime series Tezuka worked on, so I think it counts

Please Note: when I use 'Buddah' in this stamp it reffers to the manga that Tezuka drew about the life of the Buddah Just so there's no confusion or offence ^-^

ENJOY Tezuka fans!

Only one I wouldn't watch is Buddah, cause I'm a Enkist, so I don't watch things relating to other religions like that.

What is an Enkist?  If you do not mind me asking.

It's the world's first religion, it originates from Sumer. Also called the Sumerian religion, Enkism is just a shortened name.

Here's a couple of sites. Christianity ripped off and butchered this religion and corrupted it. If you read the Sumerian tales you'll see how much of it was stolen. Enkism dates back 200,000+ years.

Okay then, BTW what is public domain

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

OrangeToonist In reply to frogfish2008 [2016-03-29 21:04:01 +0000 UTC]

Public domain is basically after the creator dies there is a certain amount of years until their work would not be owned by them/the company that owns it because of how long the person has been dead and then their work is available to the public basically
Mickey Mouse should be in the public domain but Disney keeps figuring out ways to renew it. And The Little Prince is almost in the public domain. Random fact, but I think in a year it's public.

I'm not a big fan of anime, but I would be a very weird person if I didn't like Tezuka's works. I don't know what makes them be so unique, they are not like other artist's works.

raygirl In reply to Goldchild [2011-05-26 21:59:47 +0000 UTC]

Tezuka's style is very heavily influenced by the early works of Disney, hence his style is more unusual looking than other anime styles who tend to go with the more 'bishonen' or hyper realistic looking characters. It makes sense that even people who don't like anime would enjoy his work as it's a pretty unique look

I absolutely adore Osamu Tezuka! I'm checking out as many of his works as I can, especially the ones that interest me the most.

I'm getting into Kimba The White Lion & Dororo, but I'm already a big fan of Astro Boy, Black Jack & Unico, and I want to check out Phoenix & Princess Knight, as well as any others that haven't had the fortuity to make it to the US yet.

You think you've got it hard, try getting Tezuka goods in the UK! LOL

Black jack is one of my favourite anime characters ever. I've really been meaning to look into Princess Knight, I've heard it's a good series

Yeah, I heard it as well. I think it's getting a US distribution in the fall.

yeah it's a strange juxtaposition of the serious stories mixed with the very cuddly art style. It's very easy to take it seriously and laugh at at the same time
