My gerbil friend JamesUPDATE: I did some more research on the difference between the grey agouti and the colorpoint golden agouti and it appears that James falls into the latter category. Based on all characteristics of the two color variations, I have to change my guess and say she must be a colorpoint golden agouti (please still feel free to correct me if you have other suggestions!!)
**I believe she is a grey agouti, however her siblings were all colorpoint patterns and her parents coloring is unknown to me. If anyone out there has a more educated guess please feel free to correct me! **

I've never been good at color, so I'll pass on making a comment on that. She is, however, simply adorable! Beautiful eyes and nicely shaped for a young gerbie.

She's not a grey agouti.. grey agoutis are a shade of dappled grey, with a white belly, black claws and eyes.
Your gerbil has brown claws, hence is not a grey agouti. Visit the site egerbil.com, they have a colour de-coder. It starts off you choose which colour of eyes the gerbil has, black or red, and goes on from there. It has images of the gerbil colour in question, varying from cinnamon to siamese. (:

Thanks for the thoughts! I can't access the egerbil color decoder until I register with them... so, while I wait for that I was going through the rest of my research and everything I can find still points to her being a grey agouti (more specifically a colorpoint grey agouti since her siblings were all colorpoints). She definitely has the white belly and black eyes, however her coloring seemed as though it was lighter when she was younger (though she doesn't seem to follow the necessary traits for a polar fox). She's been a mystery really!

Your gerbil seems to have a more brownish shade.

It's funny, she just started to have that color. When I first got her, she was definitely grey - no brown. I did use the color ID checker on egerbil (that was really helpful thanks!!

Just mess about with the ID checker for a while, it took me an hour or so to identify all 11 of my gerbils' coats.
