Description
I was recruited by for a big ol' illustration project.This is panel one of two for an illustrated book of poems. The book is called A Life of Ravens by Alex Ness. The poem I'm illustrating is called "Against the Demons." The poem is short, but it's got lots of visual cues. I decided that since there's this undercurrent of parallels between the army of Men and the army of Demons that each should have its own separate illustration.
I did quite a bit of thinking on this, just noodling over the concept and layout - the actual drawing and inking I completed in about five hours.
...Yes, my hand is killing me. It was killing me by the end of THIS drawing, and I still had another one to go...

I probably won't color this project. It was strictly black and white to begin with, so I didn't create it with color in mind. If I get hit with a Brick if Inspiration I might go in with the color, though.

Absoluetely fantastic. You're inking skills are awesome. The differnt patterns within the black areas, and the hatching/shading creates different textures which work well togther. Everything is beautifully balanced and makes for an extremely strong and powerful piece.
