It's really difficult to say as the storyboard went through several different iterations, and some of the panels are recycled from earlier versions. Days. Days and days, for sure. I wish I could be more specific but this was years ago when I drew this; nowadays I have a turnout of a day or two max, but I haven't had to do something this long or exhaustive yet.

Best lines EVER. surrendering to the village idiot and all that. I love Louis's wit, and your voice actor does an awesome job with all his sass. ALL your voice actors are awesome, and it's so cool to watch your project develop and see the story boards and the concepts~

Everyone goes to an animation school to "animate fight sequences and explosions and high-speed car chases". In other words, mainstream media cries out for it and its the sort of things that make prospective companies roll their eyes. Anyone can animate a fight sequence. I'd like to think that the message I'm trying to get across is a lot clearer now in the second and final version, which is the most important point to me.

I forgot to mention this! I really really appreciate the change to the James-with-spyglass thingy. The toss was funnier I'll admit, but this way it just speaks volumes of how discipline-minded he is.

Wow, this has seen a lot of drastic changes! If memory serves, way more than the last two. I like a lot of stuff, anyway here are some comments.
As for the three churchmen generally: the addition is a good direction: it explains Santiago's little pause better, also why he's opening the chest: he's working for the church and gets his orders from them. ALSO why he's taking it to the catedral. It was easy to miss the ealier hooded peeps, visually at least (methinks you had prayers scripted in though but even then the clarity is better this way). Some gripes however:
* the inquisition guy's look might be a bit too, I dunno, executionerish? Shouldn't he have some sort of religious insignia/props? This makes his grabby hands at the gold potentially confusable: instead of three factions of the church vying for the gold it could look like a light-fingered hireling.
* "Take the gold" etc. A very minor thing: could he say "Take this" or "Take it" instead to be more natural? It's all very obvious he's talking about the gold.
That's LOUIS?!? It took me a few seconds to get why he was there, but when I did I loved the change. Great job. This rids you from one consequenseless minor character in the beginning as well as sets Louis' introduction apart from James', and sets mood for his character. Wonderful. With his snide little comments it should be clear to new viewers what he was doing.
Louis has changed from a carefree but proper-enough Catholic to a more reluctant one, with the wipe gesture. No strong opinions here, but this does differentiate him more from Santiago, so on principle this is an improvement.
About the Spanish guard... I saw your line-up of the new characters including the churchmen, I must say that the guard looks a whole deal like Santiago! The differences in their outfits and especially their body languages do help a lot but it's still concerning to me that they have pretty much the same face and the same hairstyle. This could be old biblethumper's son... What a frightening thought 8D
As for the cathedral interior... could the Bible scenes be ironic to the churchmen and Santiago's treasure hoarding please :3 I'm thinking of these as suggestions: the camel-and-needle thing, the widow who gave her only coins for charity, Jesus turning up money exhanger's tables at the temple...
Action begins. I'm sorry to say this but much of the energy and flow seems to have been lost here. The overall impression is heavier on speech. Louis seems to lack a plan (which might well be true), however he also seems to act deliberately... It's hard to put this into words, I hope you can understand the idea here. It's like Louis was prepared to dance his way around the heavily armoured Santiago, but has no idea where he's going, then again he seems to be heading steadily towards--an entirely wrong direction. Is he lost?
Anyways I very much like what you did with the altar and cross thing. It's like Louis is knowingly making stabs at Santiago's personality... which, knowing the sneaky lil' minx, he probably is doing. Was this his plan all along?
As for Jesus, he flies way a bit too long, even considering a bit of humorous exaggeration (it's a solid object after all, and the bits between Louis flicking it and Santiago catching it do have quite a bit of dialogue during which Jesus would still be flying). Cutting the catch into an earlier instance would be good. Santiago can't be getting after the others just yet, but that delicious bit of fussing over Jesus standing comfortably could well be stretched... Louis did muss up the altar quite a bit after all. Santiago could set everything nicely, growling and scowling worse by the moment, only to be very nearly roaring with (righteous) rage (of holy wrath) when he finally gets to go after the two blasphemous blabbermouths--oh, wait, not until a nice sign of the cross--RRRAAAAAH. All of this could be cut into alternating shots with the now extended exchange at the painting gallery. Heh, got carried away there. You get the idea.
As for the changed ending... well, first, why is Louis' fancy lil' footie sooo far away from James' face? X3 A minor concern: double usage of a darkening close-up of the general chest area of an approaching character.
All in all... interesting changes. I'll be keen to see where you're steering this ship :3 It's looking more complete, again.

WOW SAK!
This has certainly come a long way from suggestions of outfit color combinations and tweaking character designs~! It's been so long since I've been able to sit down and look at things, I'm quite amazed with all of the wonderful, beautiful, amazing progress this has come into. Going through the posted storyboards, I must say I favor the uncut version, but this as the final is absolutely stunning. The flow of the panels is magnificent, and everything is clean, crisp, and just pure gold. Since I've last seen things, I must say I love James (<3) and Louis's final looks, they're very sharp, appealing, and true to character. Santiago is a wonderful addition as well, and I must say he's very true to his Spanish roots. You're characters have developed vastly, and through this animation, once can truly understand each individuals view points, attitudes, and standards. There mannerisms and actions define them indefinitely, and each expression given throughout the this series of frames only gives further definition of character. These characters of yours are so truly wonderful, it is easy to find yourself emotionally attached to them, wanting to know more and more of them and their pasts. (Though I must say, James still has my heart. )
I can't wait to see this is further progress though. I have to catch up on all of the new things you've included, like the voice actors still, but I'm sure each voice is just how I've always pictured your characters. I've still got something in the works for you as well, and hopefully soon I can finish it and post it. Needless to say, your project gives me inspiration as well, and my muse for drawing is slowly coming back. Anyway, more comments to come on other things are surely to come. I'm so excited for your project, and I see you've mentioned starting a graphic novel... I told you this was amazing for such, and I'm glad you took it to heart dear.

You're welcome~! Well, slight changes are always present in the world of an artist, we're always going for perfection after all, and I find myself tweaking things obsessively in both artwork and writing , though writing is more of a forte for me. It's so wonderful to see this come SO far though, and see all of the developments, changes, twists and turns. This project is really more than a 'project' now, and I had great faith it would be, especially with all of the care, love, and detail that was poured into it from the start. It's so powerful, directed, and has so much going. I can't peel myself from it in complete honestly, and even now I'm writing 'in-between' class just to get back to you. It's nice to be back in the light of DAy, and thank you so much for welcoming me back. I'll be catching up further on my breaks and such, and commenting more often. I love the involvement, and if you were to need anything in the future, I'd love to offer help in what ways I can. This, in all of its entirety is just phenomenal~ Oh don't worry, I find myself in the same situation. I'm practically chained to my drafting desk for writing, sneaking in other things while typing on blistered fingers. Your recent DA profile card with yourself zombied-out and chained to your tablet, I feel the same, except with a keyboard. x____X

It just ocurred to me that you could also use "Maldito maricΓ³n" (which litteraly means "damn faggot" or more commonly "fucking faggot") it's a more strong way of cursing, but given that Santiago is really angry and frustrated I think he could say it, though there is the fact that he is in the church, and taking in account how religious he is, he shouldn't be saying that kind of things, then again, the word "maldito" on its own means "cursed", so, I don't know , I just started rambling, sorry about that, it's just that I'm quite facinated with your story , I'm gonna stop writing now.
Amaizing job with the new storyboard

If you meant to represent corruption within the Church, you did well. Being a Catholic myself I find it disgusting that Santiago would treat a beggar like that, especially since one of the Seven Heavenly Virtues is charity. Also, Louis hit the nail on the head when he said Santiago was using God to justify his own sins. It seems like he is doing the exact opposite of what Christianity teaches.

I am very grateful you're not biting my head off for portraying the Church so negatively, but as someone who used to be religious myself I found myself quitting it, because I noticed far too much hypocrisy within that organisation. The decision to cast Santiago as a conquistador and one of the priests as an Inquisitor was to exaggerate the corruption, of course. Two of Christianity's darkest points in history, I think, but sadly after doing research for my thesis last year there are still similar ongoing incidents today, and all in the name of God.

I'd just like to add that the expression drawn on the panel where Louis says, "...but I'm the cutest of his little lambs." (or something like that, it took my Mac forever to get down here and I refuse to go all the way back up.) is perfection. I'd recommend that face get's put into the final product.
Anyway, I'm off to see the video. Very good story, can't wait to see the final product.
