Description Maggie is NOT a Dandie Dinmont Terrier, she is a Lhasa/Poo. So everything I said about her being a terrier was false, a little lesson in fact-checking. This is a commissioned piece.
She is just about all the little LONG-haired doggie I have energy for.

Amazing! Great job on all the hair! That must have taken a lot of patience.

Hi, and thank you! The hair doesn't exactly take patience--it unnerved me at first though because I expect a dog to have a nice, short, form-fitting coat. But I started thinking of it in terms of human hair or a horse's mane/tail and that helped. The actual execution, you find a sort of flow or pattern or even rhythm, and it just moves right along, it can be really nice (when it works.) In fact it can be more challenging not to over-do it, trying to put in every single hair or light variation, fine if you're doing photo-realistic but not what I was aiming for here.
I liked your Kate Reid, btw. A really solid drawing, especially since you say you don't much do people.

yeah I need to figure out how to do something like that with the same style throughout. I normally mess up because i stretch it out over a few days, but can't do the same style after coming back. I did Kate Reid in all one stretch with a few little breaks. It was hard, but fun

Hard but fun, I believe it. The detail in the jacket is great, and her hair must have been really fun to do! Plus there is plenty of good energy in her expression that you caught.
You know, you're not the first competent young artist I've heard say recently that they aren't good at people, and it puzzles me, because all the same principles apply. If you can do a horse eyes and nose you should be able to do people. Other than the sticky detail of likeness, I think people are pretty easy, and I've been wondering what the struggle is. I wonder if people are inclined to overdraw and forget what they otherwise know about line vs shadow, I don't know.
Anyway, you've done well with that and it probably helped for you to get through it all in one sitting.
Use The Force, Shanen...

well the think about drawing people is that because we see so many people every day, if you get any proportions wrong, then it's really obvious and looks horrible. If I get porportions wrong with a horse, most people don't notice because they don't see horses all the time.

that's true, I didn't consider that. Still, there are a lot of funny-looking people in the world too.
