Description An OC for halo4456.deviantart.com/

There's probably a detergent for grass-stained P-51s, but special order only.

The P-51D is among my favorite aircraft, so it was difficult to say no to such a request.

This was drawn and painted in Paint Tool SAI. This is probably an RC, hopefully I didn't forget anything.

That P51 is hawt. I'd love to see more aircraft in that style.

Coming from my background, that isn't really looked fondly upon in the aviation community. It's not considered a skill, it's considered suicide. xD

There was an interview with one of the worlds best pilots of all time, Bob Hoover, where he explained how people who wanted to do that always got themselves killed. Anyone who could wasn't exactly hailed as a hero either.

The artwork however makes me shiver with delight. Flying on the edge of a Supercell in a P-51 just makes this peace so much more. Since in places where I've been, like Nebraska, this is exactly how it would look like.

It makes me wonder who is shooting at him though.

Our family ran a flight service and flight instruction business out of an FBO, and aviation was always treated with complete respect by everybody we knew. My father had the dual responsibility of having me as a student pilot and his own son, and was pretty straightforward about the dangers of irresponsible piloting.

One of my favorite qualities of Bob Hoover was his modesty. I don't think I've ever met a truly narcissistic pilot in the thousands and thousands of hours I've spent at the FBO. Most merely displayed pretty honest and understandable amounts of pride for having the license and ownership of an aircraft or two.

The concern is quite understandable though. I have aviation nightmares on occasion like this, where I'm doing stupid things like flying too low, or into restricted airspace without permission, having forgotten my flight training. They're sort of like school dreams, very stressful.

Fantasy art and flight sims are two areas where I think it's okay to go crazy with aircraft. I regularly fly with a group of folks in FSX and DCS. Even though most of them are real life pilots who treat real life flight with complete respect, we'll still do crazy and fun stuff on occasion like fly under bridges upside down or land huge airframes on aircraft carriers. I approach this picture in the same context.
