Description

Slow coming back into Space art.

Resouces from NASA's stock.

Hope you like it! Any feedback is appreciated.

EDIT: Remastering the old file was kinda necessary. Here is now a view from a spaceship across an asteroid field that is moving toward the planet at a high speed. What are the odds to escape safely ?

Thank you ButILikeTauNeutrino and cosmicbound for the observations.

EDIT':  Many thanks for the Daily Deviation and all the feedbacks!!!

The design looks somehow familiar. Seem to recall seeing its likeness in an old (early 90's or thereabouts) publication on proposed interstellar spaceflight, but cannot seem to recall the details.

You’re most welcome.

Been wanting to see the Earth’s orbit since I was a little kid. But sadly... NASA had shut down the shuttle space programs a few years back. And your pic had really caught me in awe!

But that's what space artists do. If you can't go admiring the universe, then we will bring the universe to you.

ButILikeTauNeutrino [2018-07-22 18:49:02 +0000 UTC]

I do enjoy this piece, especially the suggestion of depth! However, the lighting of the spacecraft seems a bit off, especially the lights at the front, because the way they are glowing makes it look like they are surrounded in haze.

Psyxis In reply to ButILikeTauNeutrino [2018-07-25 13:25:25 +0000 UTC]

Thank you for the comment. The glowing suggests gas emissions caused by a certain "fuel". Well, that was what had in mind when I was working on it. Maybe I have a little much overplayed the glowing. I will see about it. Thanks for the suggestion.

cosmicbound [2018-07-19 07:55:00 +0000 UTC]

Welcome back, good to see more from you! Nice smooth horizon gradient. And the asteroid blur is indeed good for depth but some contrasting detail further off would be nice too.

Psyxis In reply to cosmicbound [2018-07-20 15:08:45 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! There is that lack of contrast indeed. I've upgraded to the last version of GIMP (2.10) and some filters has been removed or completely changed. So I'm trying to find the equivalent to the former methods. But a few seem to be irreplaceable.

Unique of you to use GIMP, good going. You're quite original so keep going.

I think it would be a better title than "Zero Gravity" here. I'm currently in lack of inspiration when it comes to find titles...

GanymedeSkies In reply to Psyxis [2019-05-09 21:31:09 +0000 UTC]

The title can be anything, it's the art that's important.

Chromattix [2018-07-16 22:34:53 +0000 UTC]

Blurring out the asteroids gives this a good sense of depth (and makes me feel like I'm sneaking around out there, hopping between rock to rock hoping they don't notice )

Thanks for the compliment. Glad to hear it works.
