Description
A collaboration piece between me and the almighty 3D/sci-fi artist *freelancahHighly inspired by his piece Dreams of Clouds
It started with his beautiful planet render. Then we tossed the PSD file around until we got satisfied with it.
He did the good job so go and give him some love if you like it.
Download for 1920x1080 resolution wallpaper.
Project name: "The broken HDD project - collaboration between Seagate, Hitachi and Toshiba" Since from the idea till the execution of the project a few HDD died.
Anyway hope you like it. Any critiques and comments are welcome. Thank you for your time and clicks.

This is a tremendous piece of art. There's an interesting mix of action... the fast flash of energy from the planet and a sense of hesitation and waiting suspense from the ships in the foreground. Even though the view knows the ships are in motion, they still seem to be held in thrall by the power before them.
The excellent inclusion of detail on the clouds over the surface flowing away from the blast adds to the tremendous sense of massive power.
At first glance I was somewhat confused by the presence of the nebulas in the background. Initially I thought they were clouds in another layer of atmo, but after drinking in the piece, I understood them.
Overall, an excellent piece of work. Bravo!

Reminds me of a book I read called "Hidden Empire" the first in the series of The Saga of the Seven Suns. Its a really good sci-fi epic, if you're into books you might like it. Amazing work as always.

Glad SSD's are coming down in price. I always hate it when one of my HDD's dies.

No more garage experiments here -- it makes me wonder whether it's something like Genesis. But I hope the ships are protected from the nearby asteroids. In any case, I love the beauty of this scene, especially the purple.
