Because the gen 1 protag's names were Royally screwed up, and because normal people do not typically name their children after primary colors, we're going to just refer to her as Leaf, and save everyone a headache.

There are two things Leaf rocks rather well. Black outfits, and Red. So I figured, why not combine the two?

As far as her team goes, the manga was once more the main inspiration, though her origins in my particular reality differ...for obvious reasons that readers of said manga will understand. If you haven't read the manga, the important thing to understand is that the E4 and Gym Leaders tend to be portrayed as darker, if not outright evil, whereas in the games, they're usually the sooper strong good guys.

Logically, I can't imagine world-spanning organization with any kind of competence like the Pokemon League accidentally hiring members of [insert evil organization here], so for this reality, they're typically some variation of 'good'. Naturally, this throws a wrench in this particular character's story, and changes her history in this particular reality. What are her origins? We probably won't find out, as I'm narratively avoiding Japan like the Popes avoided the Plague, but never say never.
