Since the universe i'm writing in is a blend of anime, manga, and apparently as many other franchises as possible, and because like Leaf, the character deserves an actual name and not a color (thankfully 'Red' works as both) we'll be referring to Blue (for westerners) or Green (for easterners) as Gary. Why? Because he's Gary Motherfucking Oak, and he was driving a convertible full of cheerleaders around at the age of ten. PokeJapan has strange driving laws. And physics.
Since he actually had a competent rival, he did indeed once win the Indigo Plateau's Champion League, only to shortly thereafter fall to Red. After that, he decided to travel like his Gramps did, catching Pokemon, winning badges, and stealing hearts all along the way. He's a bit older 'currently', enough to have gained a few gray hairs, but his knowledge of Pokemon is said to rival his relative's.
Like his counterparts, the manga (and type advantage) typically decided what his team would be.
