Description My Dovahkiin Kishiira, mage, Nightingale, and overall sneaky bastard. She travels in J'Zargo's company but I didn't feel like drawing him. Her feet are really tiny, but that's on purpose because she just has dainty paws, okay.

Nice work, I love the colors and her design, especially the accessories on her archmage's robes.

Nice work

You can. [link]

The face doesn't even use any mods.

I like her calico patterning. Too bad the game doesn't originally give you such an option.

Yes it does. I don't have any face mods installed at all and the only part of that face that isn't accurate to what I have ingame is the little white flash under her right eye. Or did you mean on her tail?

Oh. Well I haven't messed around much with the female Khajiit options, and I don't remember calico patterns when I made a male 'jiit, but then I was modeling him after my orange cat.

It's all a question of what color you make your face details, war paint, etc. I picked orange as the basic fur color, and added black and white markings by the options for what color to make nose, cheeks, things like that.

Nosvertu In reply to plangkye [2013-01-10 16:41:09 +0000 UTC]

Huh. Well, kudos for your ingenuity. Mine's pretty straight-forward - orange with darker orange tiger stripes, with white stripes under the chin.

Wasn't hard to do, just a whole lot of playing. War paint and lower cheek color are black (war paint is the reason for the very large asymmetrical black patch); cheek color and nose color are orange and nose overrides war paint, with nose color set to have no effect her nose is mostly black because of the war paint; eyeliner, chin color, and whichever color controls the muzzle area are all white.

I kind of want to make a mod for more Khajiit war paint options, just for additional facial patterns, and some new skin textures for Dunmer women because I miss the decorative scarification that Morrowind Dunmer ladies often had.

I see.
Yeah, I wish there were more scarring/warpaint options for all the races. At the very least, I wish that all of the available warpaint for specific races were available for the others.

I like how you drew her staves and potions, but no real melee weapon.

Also her face really captures the look of Skyrim Khajiit. Tell me, if you play as a Khajiit, are you allowed in cities? Because none of the other Khajiit are and I always wondered how the game handles that.

There are a few exceptions ingame to Khajiit not being allowed into cities - J'Zargo is allowed into cities because he's a College mage, Kharjo is allowed in if he's with the player, and Shavari is allowed in likely because of some Thalmor arrangement. Presumably, the player's special privileges have something to do with reporting the dragon attack right at the beginning of the game.

Come to think of it, it's really only the caravaneers that aren't allowed in. Maybe the Jarls think that a Khajiit merchant is more likely to be a swindler and sneak-thief than say, a Khajiit sellsword?

Maybe the caravaneers just call it racism because they don't want to tarnish their reputation among potential customers?

plangkye In reply to SilentTakeshi [2013-01-11 04:16:44 +0000 UTC]

Well... yeah, but aside from J'Zargo, Shavari, and the player, all Khajiit in Skyrim are caravaneers or dead. I'm not counting Kharjo because he only enters cities in the player's company and goes back to being a caravaneer if he's released. Heck, there aren't even any Khajiit in the Thieves' Guild, now that I think of it, and after Morrowind (where every other Thieves' Guild member was a Khajiit or a Bosmer) that's WEIRD.

The Oblivion Theives Guild didn't have that many Khajiit. It was mostly Elves of one kind or another, plus some Redguards and Imperials (with a dash of everybody else).

Personally, I'd like to see an Elder Scrolls game set in either Elsweyr or Orsinium.

That would be awesome. Valenwood or Black Marsh would also be pretty cool.

SilentTakeshi In reply to plangkye [2013-01-24 04:35:05 +0000 UTC]

All the cities in Valenwood are in the canopies of trees that walk under their own accord. That'd be pretty hard to make work on a world map.

Awesome if they pulled it off though.

plangkye In reply to SilentTakeshi [2013-01-24 21:46:19 +0000 UTC]

Point taken. It could probably be done via creative use of false-exterior cells, but it would still be a hell of a project.

SilentTakeshi In reply to plangkye [2013-01-27 20:13:31 +0000 UTC]

Depends on how much of the "city" can be seen from outside. If there's a leafy canopy completely obscuring vision, then it's the same as Skyrim but with a "city gate" that moves.

Still, it'd be impossible to draw a map of.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

plangkye In reply to SilentTakeshi [2013-01-28 01:38:52 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that was basically how I was thinking it could be done. Drawing a map might not be impossible though; consider Skyrim's quest markers, they can track things that move across the world map, so it's not much of a stretch to think of a marker that tracks a moving city gate. The underlying world map wouldn't necessarily have to draw the cities themselves (they're barely visible in Skyrim anyway) and the local maps wouldn't be affected at all.

You as a character never really get to experience the discrimination that your kinsmen are subjected to. Would've been harder to code that in the game, methinks.

SilentTakeshi In reply to Nosvertu [2013-01-11 02:37:22 +0000 UTC]

Honestly, the game would be pretty much unplayable if you couldn't enter cities without getting attacked by guards. I didn't really expect there to be that much difference for a Khajiit PC, I was mostly just curious if it changed the guards' dialogue or something.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Nosvertu In reply to SilentTakeshi [2013-01-11 19:33:26 +0000 UTC]

I wouldn't call for being attacked, no, but I would appreciate - as you said - an alternate dialog. "What're you doing here, fleabag?" or something of the like.
