Description Not enough Elder Scrolls fanart on this site!

Tharlennis, pictured above, is my Morrowind character. She's a Dark Elf (in Elder Scrolls land, that's Dunmer, not Drow!) and, at first glance, is a typical member of Great House Telvanni - self-interested, highly magical, questionably moral, slow to make friends, vain, and somewhat covetous. In reality, though, she is secretly a member of the Twin Lamps - undoubtedly unusual for the leader of the second-largest slaveholding house in Morrowind. She fought her way to the top of Great House Telvanni through deceit and treachery, culminating in the murder of Archmagister Gothren. Tharlennis feels entitled to almost anything that isn't nailed down, and makes heavy use of teleportation, telekinesis, and high-powered Chameleon spells to 'liberate' what she wants. It is this attitude that ties her to the Twin Lamps, since slaves are property: freeing them is akin to the theft of inanimate property, though any slaves Tharlennis frees are released, not kept. Freeing them rather than keeping them also ties to her attitude toward property, as it is pretty much the same as that of a Khajiit, one of the slave races. On top of all that, Tharlennis is a treasure hunter and an excellent interior decorator, and has transformed the interior of her stronghold, Tel Uvirith, into one of the most beautiful of all Telvanni 'buildings.'

For those who play, she does wear that dress in-game, and I made it myself. Well, the texture - I used NioLiv's mesh.

Edit: Got curious about that title; I've never been sure if it's really correct so I looked up the feminine form of "magister..." turns out I should be calling Tharlennis "Archmagistra," not "Archmagistress." I need to get better at doing the research.

Sneaky, surely - not by definition evil, though; she may be self-interested and treacherous, but she doesn't kill nice people.

plangkye In reply to Umbernay [2006-07-30 19:07:49 +0000 UTC]

Re the flower: Thank you, though I can't quite take credit for that part. You see, since she's a video game character, I have limited options for customization, and some aspects (dress, face) are easier than others (hair). So the hair, including the flower in it, is actually designed by someone else.

I never got to know Elder Scrolls Morrowind, but I'm in love with Oblivion
Anyway, she looks pretty cool, and I absolutely love that dress design. It's so stylish, and it's got black and purple as primary colours, which makes it all the more cooller. And it's nicely coloured, too, I mean the fabric seems to be very smooth. I like this, I enjoy seeing 'own characters' in games that I know (or somewhat know ) Oh, and the ruby purplish lipstick looks good, too, it fits and balances the skin, I think.

oh. my gods. You MUST play Morrowind. It was so much better than Oblivion. Its moddability is much greater, the characters and plot are far more in-depth (there's even one bisexual man), and though it takes more work, your character is actually more customizable than in Oblivion. If you download a few external, user-written programs, it's really easy to give your character tattoos, birthmarks, scars, facial hair... Oblivion may be able to alter skin tone and facial proportions at character creation, but it can't do markings too well. My biggest pet peeve about Morrowind is that the beastraces can't wear boots, but clever modders have fixed that. Also, if you get Morrowind, you MUST get it for PC, get the Game of the Year Edition, and ask around on the forums which mods you can use to enhance your gaming experience (face, hair, and body mods are a must). There are over twice as many factions you can join, including the Great Houses, which allow you your own stronghold as you progress through their ranks. There's three different vampire clans your character can be in. If you have the Bloodmoon expansion, you can even be a werewolf. There are more magical effects that can be applied to your character - levitation and teleportation, for isntance; I was terribly angry that these were not included in Oblivion.

Yeah, I'll stop gushing now. Oblivion had pretty graphics, but it was rushed, and there's less you can do with it.

Wow, I never knew all that... Back when Morrowind came out, my computer was so so SOOO crappy, that I couldn't even imagine playing it. I managed to play Oblivion only because we have XBox360. Though these days my computer is pretty ok, so Morrowind would probably play, but I've not seen the game anymore here... Online ordering maybe, I dunno. I loved Oblivion, but then, I got nothing to compare it to, so I cannot make any fair comparisons, but I know how much Morrowind seems to be loved
But I know I'd enjoy Morrowind... (and I don't mind you gushing about it, hehe... )

plangkye In reply to LauraMaybrooke [2006-07-18 20:57:53 +0000 UTC]

yeah... that game is totally worth every penny. I'd say online ordering is indeed your best bet.

What I can't wait is for that one mod to come out... that one mod that allows your character to pick ANY NPC and have a relationship with him or her, ending in a marriage and children if you wish...

plangkye In reply to LauraMaybrooke [2006-07-19 12:47:33 +0000 UTC]

XD You play Elder Scrolls? I have Morrowind on my comp. I watch =sofine127 play it on the X-Box, sofine makes it look easy... I try playing it alot.. I'm not particularly far at all, I don't think I did much at all for the main story. Sofine killed Vivec ... and is going to use the alternate way to get past...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

plangkye In reply to CAWalizer [2006-06-24 02:35:49 +0000 UTC]

I'm going the standard way through the main quest... at least, I am this time. Tharlennis wouldn't kill Vivec until she'd gotten everything she could out of him... but she WILL kill Vivec, as she is a collector of unique souls.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CAWalizer In reply to plangkye [2006-06-24 03:26:41 +0000 UTC]

XD sofine's char, Lor, hid behind a pillar and attacked vivec. it was funny and sad. Vivec kept missing and Lor slowly but eventually killed him.. unfortunatly, sofine didn't know about how to use soul gems and everything until afterwards, then made Lor practice on golden saints he'd conjure..

Hurray for Elder Scrolls.^^ Lovely colouring you did here. Only thing I have to criticize is that her shoulders are a little too broad... then again it's been some time since I last played Morrowind, so I don't know whether it fits her character or not.XD
