All right. So The "jump off" to fantasy is over, back to my project again. What you see here is my most recent take on the molluscoids. All the body plans you can see here are the basic elements for further differenciation ad radiation - Shells extended into horn-like shapes, shells with serrated edges or with tubercles/bumps/studs/spikes all over the surface, shells with a row of long spines around the edge, shells straight or curled, extended into various directions... Look at the Murex shell to see where are the limits...
Also, this is "Part I." for a reason, I will make (at least!) one continuation of this, I still have to "catch up" with the Quasitestudo and Pseudocaretta, and of course 'I love my sea butterflies [link] too!'
Also, I wonder ow to approach the "Bivalves" or Bivalve-like creatures, it seems that two shells that can close isn't only found in Molluscs, but also in other creatures, such as Brachiopods, which made me think that it's not too unlikely to see a similar-looking shell arrangement on an earth-like planet. or at least something what a pillbug, pill milipede or some trilobites could do - curl into a hard armoured ball to protect their vulnerable bodies.
The evil scientist inside me just got an idea for alien "chitons!"

I hope not! these are supposed to live on a different planet! But Opabinia and Hallucigenia looked pretty "alien" for being terrestrial creatures, so, who knows!

But what do we know? Maybe some of the lifeforms we will find in outer space will be similar to some of the speculative creatures that are out there, and there is a lot of them on the net!

Bah, not at all. I'll reveal the idea to you, I have a concept of an "amphibian" that would swim like a really miniature penguin in the submerged parts of the caves, and its wings would gradually increase in size up to the point where it could fly, and when mature, it would fly off the caves at dusk and dawn in massive numbers to catch the insectoids, but I still fail to come up with satisfactory drawings... =/ Also, I don't want to make the adults too bat-like, and I don't have a precise idea how ahould the nymphs look like either... =/ You see, my idea about the exact appearance of the amplibian and reptile analogues somewhat changed, so I'll have to rework the existing drawings of those species before being free to move on...

all right well good luck I'm struggling to come up with creatures for orbisia at the moment the things i draw either look to dinosaurians or too cartoonish when i close my eyes i can picture landscapes and environments but the creatures just don't fit.......so I'm just going to look throughout some of my old sketch books and then see what i come up with

Good luck! What about some small-ish bipeds with some fleshy sacks on their bodies that they can inflate for display purposes? A bit like the frigate birds crossed with pheasants? But the sacks could have a different color, maybe even striped/spotted texture, and they could be on the sides of the body or on the back? What about some interesting horn/antler designs for some of the creatures? Are all the creatures bipedal, or are there some animals with more legs and the predator (I assume it was a predator) you posted earlier is an exception - if it is a big ol' thing like a theropod dinosaur that had lost the forelegs completely to save weight? - Just a thought
I suggest looking at some weird animals from earth, look at their interesting aspects and combine a few of them together.

thats exellent and i have a small design of a creature with a sack like organ under its chin that can very quickly fill with air to make a pop sound and only a few are bipedal I'm curentl looking at sloths and pandas i had i idea for a herbivore grazer that sant on its behind a lot! thanks again for the help

Not all of them would be of course, but I guess especially the brightly-colored and shell-less ones would be poisonous!

your moluscoid are really interesting , you got one relative where the brain is extremely simple and the other is extremely complicated but what they have in common is they are all tasty.

Yeah, the limpet-like creature has a very simple nervous system, it doesn't even have eyes, so the only information it has to process are essentially touch and olphaction
Well not all molluscs on earth are edible, "nudibranchs" for example are extremely colorful, lamost like "birds of paradise" or "parrots" of the seas, but they are also extremely poisonous in some cases. Maybe they are tasty, but once and for good!
