Ohhhhhhhh no I've done it AGAIN. This time we have Mara, but again, same brush pen was used, and in the same Moleskine sketchbook. And again, the paper was resisting the ink in places. Annoying, but I wasn't about to be deterred by something so trivial. My hands must be greasy or something; can't see how that's possible if the skin is constantly splitting open from dryness, but I digress....In all honesty, I have a hunch on the reception of this one, but I'll not say what it is, of course. We shall simply see if I am proved correct.
Mara's appearance has shifted again. I'm not sure how I feel about it, I'm just trusting I haven't moved backwards, at least. Here she is with Jin in their first submission. [link] Also, I swear that someone else was directing my brush here. Those lines...... seem suspicious.
I have no idea if I've missed anything... so let me know if their are any questions. Plenty of things are "off" as well, so I have no qualms with their being pointed out. I'm sure I've missed some, anyway.

Cloven hooves! People usually just draw a horse, stick a horn on it and oh look, it's a unicorn! I like your version as I am a fan of the more medeival goat/deer unicorn. And beautiful inking, I wish I was that good!

I love the texture you created in the fur, it looks like I could sink my fingers into it! This style of ink drawing always makes me happy. The level of detail, patience and careful work is evident.
Also, lovely work on the pose and perspective, especially on the hind legs. You've given the subject a great sense of high action, but she still looks so graceful, like she should be floating.

You are so good at amalgamating characteristics from extant animals into entirely believable mythological creatures. Particularly when it comes to ungulates. 
Is this one of those giant moleskine sketchbooks you're working in, or is this tiny?

This is one of the larger moleskines... size A4, I believe. I wanted the larger one, of course, but this will do, and it's more portable.

i really like the more curved horn.....it makes her more dynamic and she looks a lot more robust in this pic.....previously a gust of wind could have blown her away

Aside from that you can see her right nostril when I don't think you would based on the rest of the head, I think there's very little that stands out. This would quite look perfectly fine alongside something in Spectrum. Yanno... if they ever did a B/W version. Your linework is top notch.

Interestingly enough, I am thinking of submitting something to Spectrum this year... not this, but something else, assuming I finish the thing before the end of the year.

Ah yes, the background... it's giving me a fair amount of trouble thinking about it, but I assume it will end up in the vein of "misty and atmospheric with echoes of plantlife" I have going on in so much of my work.
