Description
A gift for a good friend of mine.
She enjoys pretty things, so I thought this might suffice. 
A note: This is how I drew my unicorns, years and years ago. More or less your ordinary Iberian equine, with some exaggerations, and, a curved spiral horn. Actually, I must be honest: The curve in the horn is a recent addition. Note that my unicorns look more like this these days: A lot less equine. Still, I do thoroughly enjoy drawing these fellows' manes. Swirly wavy goodness!
I'm still attempting to work on my own variant of the unicorn. I can't understand why it's so difficult, but there you have it...
Oh. This is white acrylic ink and black India ink on Canson Mi-Teintes pastel paper.
9x12 inches. White acrylic ink is something new to me. Perhaps you can tell how much I enjoyed working with it?

Beautiful use of the medium. It gives the unicorn an ethereal quality, heightened by the design being relatively non-horse-like (I don't find horses very ethereal, so equine unicorns always strike me as way too solid).

(belated comment) Just gorgeous! I'm curious: why is the horn's values so lightly rendered compared to the muzzle/eyes? An interesting design decision, methinks.

I always loved his books as a kid and recently bought his book 'Magical World of Unicorns' which features many of his illustrations. Definately worth checking out if you have the chance

This is really beautiful. In particular, I love the tranquil, wise expression in the face, the ram's nose. I also really like the pose with the head thrown back slightly - it adds character imo
