having purchased DragThing [link] lately i'm totally blown away by all its capabilities and potential.for these two screenshots i was using ~StefanKa 's SimpleOne-Dragthing Theme here and then set it to fully transparent so that all the icons and shortcuts would now be displayed on my wallpaper alterations, and which now mimic the actual dock/bar backgrounds.
in other words: all docks are part of the wallpaper i made. and dare i say it, i just love it.

it is not a dock. it is part of the wallpaper and the icons only look as if they are part of a dock.
unfortunately i don't have that dock anymore.

sure...
...that's done by an "Adjustments" layer in photoshop for "Hue/Saturation". with the option to "colorize" enabled i've used the values 207 for "Hue", 35 for "Saturation" and -75 for "Lightness". there's also a little switch, that can be used to clip the adjustment to just one layer or to affect all layers below.

the dock is just an image which you have to manually place on your wallpaper, so that the icons would be drawn upon it.

You've almost pushed me to get a mac just watching your amazing gallery. Unfortunatelly the music software i'm using and my soundcard's drivers are working only on windows... somehow... i'm sick of it.... it's so ... i don't know... normal simple... well. nice work

although all the skins in my gallery are for windows and the majority is for an app called CD Art Display. you might have heard of it.
so, seeing that you're a music lover with a strong affection for dubstep, i'm almost sure that there might be something you like in my gallery.
but then again, i don't know if CD Art Display is really compatible with that music software you're using.

well, the "shelves" on which the icons are placed upon are actually a part of the wallpaper.
the icons itself are set to show greyscaled and with a reflection by using an app called DragThing. [link]
DragThing is a highly customizable app that allows you to have multiple (even tabbed) docks on your screen and comes with quite a few different dock styles to choose from. but to fake the perfect bookshelf appearance i've set it to fully transparent, so that -like i've mentioned above- the icons would sit on the shelf that's actually a part of the wallpaper.
unfortunately, DragThing is not freeware, but if you ask me i'd say it's well worth its price.

hab mich neulich schon gewundert meinen screenshot in ~appleviews ' GT screenshots wiederzufinden.
ich meine, ich würde GT sehr gerne benutzen, aber aus irgendeinem grund funzt es bei mir nicht, denn sobald ich eins der drei scriptlets auf den desktop ziehe, erscheint dort nur ein komplett leeres HUD-mäßiges fenster in welchem ich nichts aber auch gar nichts einstellen kann. ich hab mit allerlei mausklicks darauf "rumgetrommelt" aber: NADA. bei einer fehlersuche via yagoohoogle bekam ich raus, dass PathFinder vielleicht das problem sein könnte, weil dieser den normalen Finder desktop überlagert. auf den PathFinder kann und will ich aber nicht verzichten und so hab ich GeekTool kurzerhand wieder deinstalliert.
kurzum: in meinem screenshot ist kein einziges geeklet zu finden und ich hab lediglich DragThing und Bowtie dort in verwendung.

ob ich dies allerdings mit dem Rhapsodizing in Blue shot machen würde, ist eher fraglich.
ich mein, das ist ja mittlerweile schon wieder ein "alter" screenshot und ich frag mich, ob es nicht besser wäre für einen solchen contest mit etwas gänzlich neuem zu kommen.
das "frische" beeindruckt meist mehr als das "alte". meinst du nicht?

Naja was neues ist immer besser als was Altes. Ich bin auch schon wie ganze Zeit was ich so neues machen könnte, am PC&Mac, nur fehlt mir zurzeit die Zeit dafür

ohja, die liebe zeit die uns fehlt mal wieder.
meine setups sind meist das ergebnis von immer wieder kleineren veränderungen, die sich über die monate zu etwas passablem zusammenfügen. ich bin kein freund von häufig wechselnden desktops. wie du schon richtig anmerkst: da fehlt oft einfach die zeit für.
obwohl manchmal geht dann alles ganz schnell und ich hab plötzlich ne ganz neue idee, nach der dann mein desktop komplett anders aussieht. planen bzw. forcieren oder gar vorhersehen kann ich solche momente allerdings nicht, und so ist es auch hier die zeit, von der alles abhängt.

ich arbeite gerade ne bisschen an meine Desktop rum, mir hat der alte nimm 'er gefallen.
Wollte erst deinen Nachbauen, aber jetzt habe ich was anderes gefunden. Jetzt muss ich nur noch raus finden, wie ich am besten auf mein zu System/Library/balbla zu greifen kann um meine Menübar schwarz zu machen und das Logo ändern kann und dann bin ich denke mal so gut wie fertig.
Ist zwar nix besonderes, aber muss ja mir gefallen

das mit der schwarzen menubar hab ich mal gegoogelt und bin so auf diese anleitung gestossen.
das schwierige ist es dann in manchen programmen, die ein icon in der menubar haben, nach dem icon zu suchen und dieses dann in weiss umzufärben. auch die system-uhrzeit ganz rechts in der menubar wird ein echtes problem, denn da geht es dann nicht mehr nur um irgendwelche icons, die man austauscht. für die uhr hab ich mir dann mit dem programm iStat menus 3 weitergeholfen, denn das tauscht die default system uhr aus gegen eine andere, welche ich nun wiederum farblich ganz nach meinen wünschen anpassen kann.

Do you have any suggestions, about what "dock" programs (something like on left side of both pictures) should I get on my Windows 7 ?
AFAIK, no free one have tabs, and most of the programs are almost 5 years old.

afaik, ObjectDock Plus [link] is the only one with tabs and which i think, should be perfectly suitable to (re-)create the look shown above on a windows desktop.
but then again it's offered to be purchased at a strong $19,95, which is quite a lot, imo.
another idea might be to maybe mimic and reproduce this in rainmeter. i've already seen some tabbed dock "clones" for rainmeter, but if my memory serves me right, then they've all been just horizontal ones and unfortunately i have nothing to recommend for you right now there.

I also thought about searching for a Rainmeter one, since I'm not interested to buy ObjectDock Plus for 19,95$.
