The picture does seem to portray a windy desert quite well, but perhaps not a super hot one.

"The deserts of the world are enigmas painted upon maps. They are stark, dry wastelands of sand and rocks and snakes, yet they can be as beautiful as the most lush of forests; the most wealthy of cities. Their endless expanses are filled with stinging insects, fiendish serpents, and howling winds that create walls of sand and dust stretching almost to the clouds...and yet, the few signs of civilization scattered about--oasis villages, trading cities, even nomads' wandering camps--will welcome almost any newcomers, despite their peoples having lived in the most harsh of homes.
Only the brave and wise can truly comprehend the true wonder of the deserts. The cowardly would not risk their hides against the burning Sun and tearing sand, and so they would cling to the coast, or stay within the city walls; shutting out the sands outside as if they were some unpleasant memory. The foolish, or simply childish, could not fully appreciate the peace of mind and introspection the vast, quiet, untamed sands, rocks, and valleys can bring to a lone wanderer.
