So I've been scriptwriting for my comics a LOT lately, its probably been the most prominent thing on my mind lately and in turn I've been listening to a lot of music while doing so. Came across these two songs:

Feint - Shockwave (ft. Heather Sommer)

Feint ft. Brehm - Words

And it 'sparked' this drawing idea for one of my characters named Jolt. She was actually a character of mine that sat on the backburner for many years, but the more I've entertained her story, the more I've really warmed up to her. Jolt's powers were dumped onto her in what she believes to be a freak accident, and has come to have pretty crippling fear of them. The more I've thought about it and analyzed how Jolt struggles with her powers, the more I've come to identify with her in how I'd visualize my anxiety. The more you try to suppress it, the more it starts to boil over and make a mess of things (in her case, potentially burning her house down). The more people start to notice, and there's often not much you can do about it. It's just there until it decides not to be. (In my experience, there's some things that can soften how bad it comes on, but it can never really prevent it completely).

I've lived with pretty bad anxiety for most of my life and have found few little things that work to control it or keep it at bay when it surfaces, but I'd like to think that Jolt could some day master her powers that so terrify her. This piece was an exercise with the idea that maybe she could finally fully embrace and control them. And when she does, she's extremely powerful.

I also played with a different art style with this piece! Tried more comic book-ish type shadows and coloring. A good exercise in comic stuff later on, hopefully >V>
