They orbit each other at an axis compered to the rest of their solar system, making eclipses rare for most of the year, with two instances reach year, despite the proximity of the planets. While the average distance of 9800kms between them is incredibly short in astronomical terms and a significant about of debris can be found in the L1 "deadzone" between them, their exchange of air currents and material is minimal.
