Well, It's Thanksgiving time here in the US, and I finally have a bit of time to sit down and hammer out some of the things I've been sitting on for, like, ever. I started that with another piece I'll probably be posting later, and then I finished this off so that I could post something. The idea of the scene came from a moment in Green where Spike receives some oblique life advice from Celestia. As for what's going on right here, well, that's up to you.WIPs here

I cant stop looking at that piece of Celestia's hair that seems to go RIGHT INTO Spike's knee spiral, almost as if it's an opacity error

Green is the name of a fanfic by Steel Resolve . It's incomplete, still ongoing, and I haven't actually read all of what's published of it, but I was attempting to at the time I made this. This piece wasn't conceived as an illustration of the story, but one of the interludes did provide the idea to finish this piece by adding Spike.

Beautifully done and such calm lighting really adds to the comfort of the scene. I also loveΒ how you contrasted the soft texture of Celestia, the reflective hard surface of the floor, and Spike who is somewhere in between the two. It's all around a really really awesomeness drawing :}

For all that Twilight hatched Spike and is raising him now, I tend to see them as having more of a big sister / little brother relationship. Inasmuch as Spike has a true mother figure, I think it would be Celestia (with Twilight Velvet coming close second).

Well, I did make Spike rather differently than I made Celestia, and his half of the scene was created quite a while after I did Celestia, so I suppose that easily could have come through a bit in the style. I did try to make them both look like they belonged in the same scene though.

Celestia has been around for who knows how long. He can tell Spike for a fact that he's not like other dragons and why he's special to the manes and possibly Equestria.

I can see Celestia giving Spike advice, something like, Twilight and the main six still needs him or telling him he's not like other dragons

Very nice. The contrast between Celestia and Spike's body language really brings this to life. Clearly whatever's bugging the little guy isn't a big deal to the centuries-old alicorn. Hopefully she can get Spike to see that too.

Celestia, being her glorious self, would be a near-infinite source of advice for anyone. I kinda envy Spike in that he can get advice directly from the Sun Princess!
