I had planned on posting a Twilight vs Tirek picture last week, but my computer died in the most complete way possible, and I still haven't received my replacement motherboard, not to mention that I'm not even completely sure that it will fix the problem. Anyway, the picture in question was partially complete, and resides on the hard drive of said computer, and I don't feel like recreating it or digging the drive out and attaching it to something else.Fortunately, it while it was the best, it wasn't the only computer I have access to, so instead y'all get this, made on an old laptop whose video card gave up generating output for a while and I had to leave it to cool off for a few hours. A return to my old style, and my old sort of content as well. After I drew it I thought "this looks really familiar". I can't quite decide if I'm ripping off Bri-sta or myself , but then I thought, it's all in the presentation or something like that, so I'm posting it anyway.
Image Edit: After it became evident from the comments that nobody could see them, I cranked up the tears. They should now be visible from space.

Edit: I think this artwork definitely deserves some background story to support the moment. Did you make this with some particular idea in mind?

I've been meaning to respond to this, but I'm not quite sure how to do it.
If you watch my gallery you may know that very often my drawings are inspired by stories and particular moments within them. I'll read something that just has to be seen, and upon finding that such visuals do not exist, I make them. I'll usually detail the exact origin of such pictures in the description.
This case is really not all that different. It's just that the story in question was one of my own devising. I didn't allude to it in the description because I have no intention of ever posting it, as it's basically the textual equivalent of a fever dream that I came up with when I failed to stop imagining "what would happen next?"
So enough with the prevaricating. This is basically the end of a scene in which Celestia expresses to Twilight her guilt at having carefully manipulated Twilight's life for her own ends, at first for the release of her sister, but also leading her towards becoming her equal as a princess and an alicorn. Basically "Blah blah blah, I don't deserve you, blah blah blah". Which Twilight responds to by telling the story of her first Summer Sun Celebration. Basically "I've been obsessed with you since before you knew who I was". Boom, bonding moment, happy tears, picture happens. What were they doing that led to this discussion? Perfectly innocuous things .
And of course, the whole thing was set up as a justification for Celestia completely flipping her shit in the next chapter when she is led to believe Twilight has died. Because characters were made to be tested.
So there you go. That's the weirdness that occurs in my mind after reading too much fimfic. You asked.

Love it. I like to think of Celestia as having great affection for Twilight. I mean, she's her "faithful student", she reconciled her sister to her...it must be hard for her not to show it sometimes.Β

This picture could be portraying so many different scenarios. ua could have disappeared and looked for comfort in her closest friend, there could be another world hanging in the balance crises going on, or maybe even Celestia needs a breakdown every now and then. I like to think it's Celestia worrying about Twilight dying before she gets her wings.

You know, one suggestion I would make to help show that this pic is not meant to be suggestive in nature is to maybe have Celestia shedding a tear, as that would likely be a solid indicator of her expressing emotional distress, which I believe was your intent with this piece. Hope this advice helps, and that you get your computer issues sorted out soon.

Heh. There actually are supposed to be tears, but I guess I made them too small to be obvious at the preview resolution. I seem to have a habit of making details that are too subtle or at the wrong scale for the pieces they're in. Nobody could see the eye reflections in Canyon Dive either. I may actually go in and edit this one.

The "suggestiveness" might also be because that similar work you linked was based on a scene in a Twilestia story, so people might think this one has the same implications.
I didn't. The two images have a shift in tone that make all the difference. This one might still have a possible romantic backstory, but I see a (surrogate) mother-child relationship here, while the other one was pretty obvious in what it was showing.

That line in the description is basically just my overreaction to the first comment, which was made within seconds (literally) of the upload,Β (not really time to be searching for context)Β and is a fairly transparent troll. For that matter, given that the linked piece is mine, it should be evident that I don't have anything against romantic overtones in principle, only the assertion that this picture was depicting sex.Β I've since (in response to other comments) actually edited the image to make the intent more obvious, and the assertion that Celestia's sad-face is her orgasm-face more tenuous.
In light of that, I've removed my whine from the description, as it was simply causing discussion of something that almost nobody was assuming.

Just took a second look at the picture you mentioned, and I had to blow the pic up to full download resolution to see the reflections you mentioned, and it was a bit hard to notice with the lens flare effect of the sun behind her (trying to see detail on a dark object in close proximity to a bright object).

This is quite adorable! When I look at this picture, I can imagine a scenario where Princess Celestia would become depressed about Luna being gone, so she would ask Twilight to spend the night with her (not in THAT way, mind you).

To be honest this feels more sad than funny or cute. Is Celestia in stress or fear? Is Celestia afraid that Twilight is growing up quickly and she wont be her child student? With the way Twilight is reacting maybe she's trying to reassure her that she'll still be her student. This is one of the reasons why I like the relationship between Twilight and Celestia. Not in a romantic way but more between student and mentor. It's really sweet and happy.

It is not even sex. It is a mother holding her child close after thinking she had lost her.

Seeing that Twilight is lacking wings, it might also be that Celestia is also being haunted by the prospect of Twilight dying before she does. Thinking of those sort of things can make anyone's facade crack if they care enough about someone.
