Thanks for your interest and sorry for the somewhat late reply!
As you might have noticed, it's been some years since I last had a go with Terragen. As far as I remember I used several tools for the terrains. One was called "World Machine", but I don't know, if it's still around. You couldn't render in anything else than terragen itself. I just kept on playing with the settings rather than reading tutorials, but I used to spent a lot of time on terradreams.de, which you might want to check. It's a German community, though.

Thanks for your comment. Did you mean how to set up different colours for the cliffs and ground? This is simply done with different layer distribution attributes in Terragen...

You really like putting birds in don't you? XD This looks like something out of the LOTR. The light clouds on the dark clouds really add the feeling I think you're going for here, and it's a nice contrast. Very very nice.

Very nice mood. It makes me feel cold and wet. Great job integrating the PP ESPECIALLY the rocks with the waves in the foreground. Only weak point is the haze on the middle mountain range not matching with the rest of the atmosphere. Minor niggle though since that is a super critical eye looking beyond the image's undeniable artistic merit. Big thumbs up!
