I was watching Cats today and as always, I was blown away by Elaine Paige`s amazing voice. She has such a talent.I`ve also taken notice of something- Grizabella is an underloved cat both in the musical and in the fandom. Why is this? She`s the whole reason I got into Cats (I heard "Memory" and was curious).
Ah well, I felt like sketching her. I might scrap this later.

Elaine Paige is my favourite Grizabella, seriously. Her rendition of Memory is the best I've heard so far.

I agreed. Elaine has always been my favorite Grizabella. I guess I might be biased, because I heard her sing Memory first, but her verious is so filled with power and emotion that all the other Grizabella`s I`ve heard can`t match.

I went and saw CATS in Fort Lauderdale, done by a travelling production in... '09 or '10 and that's when I first heard it. Then I heard Sarah Brightman and Barbara Streisand, but I don't think either of those really capture all the feelings in the song like Elaine Page.

I saw Memory on Youtube, and then I saw Cats at a local high-school when they did it for their spring production. But, yes, Elaine is best at singing the song. Although a lot of people think Betty Buckley is the best.

I think she seems less loved in the fandom (on dA anyways) because she's rather hard to draw (that's what I think anyways) but you've drawn her absolutely perfectly! Her face/expression is spot on! And her hair is fantastic! Really well done!

She`s unloved both on DA and Fanfiction, not to mention in the musical itself. I personally think it might be because she a.) is an older cat and all the older cats (Jennyanydots, Bustopher Jones, Skimbleshanks etc.) are usually the most underloved in the fandom and b.) she is in the Heaviside Layer, so she wouldn`t be around after the Jellicle Ball. But, she is such a wonderful cat and she`s the reason, as I stated, I really got into the fandom. It`s a shame she gets no love.
Thank you so much! I`ll probably draw a better one in the near-future, and maybe a couple of the other cats.
