Hehehe... And then the revelation that nearly all of XCom 1 was a simulation in your mind and that all along, you had been HELPING the aliens. Your precious Heilberger was probably some ADVENT officer you were unconsciously helping stamp out the resistance... Time for some payback, I think.
How's War of the Chosen treating you, Commander?

Yes, and the fact that you will have to defend the Avenger (the huge ship) makes me gitty and yet terrified at the same time.

Well, since he apparently didn't die at the end of XCOM: EW (developers said that the volunteer is teleported to somewhere else), then yes, I shall create Richard Heilberger, who was first a bad ass German Sniper in Enemy Unknown who then turned into a bad ass German Medic (also Spy when it came to the Exalt missions) in Enemy Within, again for XCOM 2.

It's going off the basis that you were playing Iornman Impossible for the first time, witch is well, Impossible to win. So you did win, they just assumed you lost very early on

I That might happen, I just think it would be hard to do. The end fight was just one giant Climax and it will be hard to top, and it would be hard to know if they played the Mobile/Consel version where they had their base and even harder to know who was made. Honestly I kinda like this way, I honestly don't know why I just do. But I can see why some people would want their wins to be meaningful. But just think of it this way. You won so there was no need for a sequel because they didn't want to mess with you. They didn't want to collect Egypt's debt Β Or some other reason. Whatever their motivation was.
I figured a lot of people did, but NO DEATHS, NONE PULLED OUT, NO MISSIONS LOST, NOTHING DIED? HOW GOOD IS HE? HE USED MAGIC
Anyways good comic

Yep, and it utterly AMAZING!! Don't be turned off by the use of a free companion app for the game; it REALLY helps with the randomness of the game. It is also quite intense and will hand you ass even in the easy and normal setup BECAUSE THIS IS XCOM!!!

Not to brag, but I did win 1 game impossible ironman. Considering it took a dozen tries to get past the first mission (even once I completely revamped my tactics, RNG is still a bitch sometimes. example, first council mission, thin man drops down without cover, 3 soldiers take overwatch shots, all miss. My turn, they all shoot again, miss. Assault dashes RAG, thin man hits overwatch (thank god for nano-fiber), but my assault has a 100% chance with shotgun (and I always play with absolutely critical, so 100% chance of crit against enemies who take cover who aren't in cover or are flanked, which the aliens take advantage of, not that it created a bigger problem for me, as they always crit in those situations anyways) so that took care of that... Until the next thin man dropped down and I had a repeat of the three stooges routine again), I don't think it's anything to brag about, more like I'm a glutton for punishment, and really wanted to say I could beat it on impossible ironman. It's fucking hard, harder if RNG hates your guts. It's just something you do to say you did, and then never try again, because you're not masochistic.
What I learned from my impossible iron man: 100% chances to succeed are your friend. Mech punch/flamethrower, grenades, rockets (90%, but can still hit on a miss), shotguns, scopes, and high level snipers. Always count on the aliens to hit your soldiers in full cover with smoke unless they literally can't (in which case, they will blow out your cover, and the next guy will hit. Like one of my attempts on the first mission, hunkered down a soldier in full cover (80% dodge, sectiods have 75% accuracy on impossible), so they literally couldn't hit that soldier. But the 2 sectoids still manged to blow up the cover and then kill the soldier. The hope was that they would try to flank him to negate that advantage, and then get hit by my overwatch shots I had set up where they couldn't see.) Which reminds me, count on your overwatch to miss, and for their overwatch to hit. Also, cloaking. cloaking will save your ass against that horde of muton elites who can't miss, and then you send them to hell in one fell swoop after your whole team uncloaks right on top of them. Sectopods too, but you can always just bait them into winding up the cluster bombs to give you another turn to kill them, unless you/they are indoors.

I always figured that mother ship was one ship out of a whole massive fleet. That in Xcom enemy unknown the aliens where just probing Earth and its defences. When you blow up the mother ship the aliens know earth could be a threat and a asset as well which is why they take over instead of say orbital bombard it to dust.Β
In otherwords, you won the war, or so you thought, turns out the aliens where simply toying us humans. We thought we won, they laughed and then their main army invaded. A single organization with a small private army, even with highly advanced armor and weapons, where severely over whelmed and killed/scattered.Β
Xcom 2 the organization begins to resurface. Now to retake their world.Β

That's the way I like to view it. Especially since Firaxis said that the volunteer DOES NOT die at the end of Enemy Unknown. Yeah, threw me for a major loop. Link --->Β www.ign.com/articles/2014/11/2β¦
Apparently, he or she was teleported to somewhere else right before the mother ship blew up. However, interviews for XCOM 2 have stated that Iron man + Impossible Mode is canon to the sequel in which we didn't even make it to laser weapons. At the same time, I have all these questions such as, "Richard Heilberger is still alive?! Where did he get teleported to?! Is he going to pop up randomly in XCOM 2?!"
The game is getting pushed back to February 2016, which is alright with my wallet, and means that Firaxis is taking great care before releasing it...unlike *cough* Arkham Knight *cough*.

I got plenty of elite soldiers; I just wished I had another Skyranger!! I just lost two more countries cause of bloody alien abductions, and this will sound bizarre, but, I was REALLY hoping to get a Terror Mission that month! Usually a Terror Mission will occur in a country that has fallen into stage 5 panic, which allows you to reduce panic greatly in that country and sometimes the globe if you do REALLY well.
So pissed that Germany pulled funding !!!

I haven't gotten far enough along to figure out how to get another Skyranger.
Is there anyway to a country to fund you again?
π: 0 β©: 1
MuffiaSmith In reply to Codfish107 [2015-09-23 17:00:13 +0000 UTC]
Β You never get another Skyranger. You only have the one, which is why deciding which country to help during the alien abductions is very tricky. The countries that you don't aid in the abduction missions will go up by two in their panic meter, and the neighboring countries will go up one.
Once a country has pulled from XCOM, they are gone for good. XCOM: Enemy Unknown and Enemy Within are one of the VERY few games in which you can put hours into and still lose and get a "Game Over" screen. There is a meter in the "Situation Room" called the "Doom Tracker". Should eight or more countries pull their funding from XCOM, then XCOM is shut down, and it's game over.

Enemy Within is LOADS of fun (you get to make mech-soldiers and mutant soldiers); HOWEVER, Enemy Unknown is a bit easier than Enemy Within. Trust me, I have beaten both, and Enemy Within will throw you for a loop since they buffed some of the aliens like the Sectopod. Link for more explanation xcom.wikia.com/wiki/Sectopod_%β¦ .
Yet, that is what makes XCOM so good. It holds nothing back , even on normal mode, and you feel ecstatic when you do overcome those odds.

There is a human group called Exalt who say that they will work with the aliens once the aliens have conquered Earth. However, they will never appear side by side with the aliens. What they do is try to do is place Exalt cells in the council nations and that can cause a number of downfalls such as draining funding, causing more panic, or reversing a research project progress.
What the Commander needs to do is to scan for Exalt cells, and when you find one, send an operative (i.e. one lone soldier, he or she will only be armed with a pistol and one inventory slot). After five days pass by, you will then be alerted to retrieve your operative via a mission. (If you ignore the mission, that soldier is dead and the mission an automatic fail and Exalt goes back into hiding). You must succeed the mission. This will provide you clues that eliminates where Exalt HQ is NOT located. The main objective is to raid the Exalt HQ and knock them out for good. But you can't go raiding willy nilly. Choose to raid a nation where their HQ isn't in results in that nation withdrawing from XCOM.
Exalt members will get mutations as the game progresses making things harder.
Yet, with all this going up against the player, I felt like a bad ass when I knocked them out.
