The guy looms well, I'll give him that. You know, the suspicious part here isn't the skill, the lack of juvenat treatment for a competent capable asset, the mysterious handgun and amazing physical condition despite old age (which, for a career soldier, is a flag in itself to survival ability).
The suspicious part is that for all that he's just 'corporal' McClannahan.
It does rather seem like someone wanted his capabilities well and truly buried in the Departmento Munitorum's records.

Just a question that is flying in my mind from a while: i never understand if "Ragged Edges" is yours or it belong to someone else... or if it is a collaboration...
Sorry for the dumb question (and the dumb english, it isn't my mother language and never sure if i write right).
About the font i think it is "Courier", hope i helped ^^

Ragged Edges is my creation, but it wouldn't be what it is without the splendid writings of others. They have brought so much to it.
It's not courier, sadly but thanks for helping!

Odd the description for this man and the allusion to a tank matches up pretty damn well.
He seems to be very well built
Uses a long gun for engagement at long ranges
And doesn't talk much
That's a tank in a nut shell I'd say.
Interesting profile Mr C I always wondered about this chap

Boddicker, who inconveniently has yet to show herself. She is somewhere between ocelots. Showy, and pistol obsessed. But with an uncomfortable cruelty of the older ocelot too.

737th Gunpoint Mechanised Infantry "the Nimrods "
Originally named after the great hunter, the unit name is now as associated with idiocy as the planet gunpoint is associated with failure due to cultural confusion and selective recognition of military failures and cowardice on the part of the planets regiments.
More on this soon.

Now I'm definitely looking forward to that; I picture the Adeptus Munitorum supplying them with cheap, off brand APC's instead of Chimaera's and Taurox's because of their planets poor battle record.

The only thing canonical about them is that they are a hive world whose name is a byword for failure.
This also happened to the French. English people would lump the French into an insult often. Fact is, the French have done great things in war but are remembered only for delete and surrender.
And yes, she is mostly a driver, which is why she favours side arms and grenades. She is generally partnered with Bobrovski, a vahallan former arbite turned heavy weapon specialist.

I don't know, when you think about the fact that the French losing streak started with the battle of Waterloo and lasted over one hundred and fifty up into Vietnam in the 50's and 60's it's a pretty deserved reputation the French have earned themselves; Specifically there were some pretty significantly poor logistical decisions made between WWI and WWII.
The three types of French soldiers that spring to mind that would fit the 40k universe would be resistance fighter, foreign legion, and trench fighters; are the Gunpoint Guardsmen's uniforms anything like one of those?

They worked so hard and gave so much in the forgotten battles of world war one. It was the brass that fucked them, same as anyone else but they had some real courage (check out the youtube channel the great war for more info) I'm not saying it's completely inaccurate but on some level actually making the french synonymous with failure is a bit of a beat up. I guess that's basically what you're saying anyways. Doops.
Some where between a resistance fighter and a more beaten up version of young ocelots outfit. She does wear a beret. Facially, she is like Boddicker (a re-occurring name and basic archetype that appears in my role playing games) seen here:
second row from the bottom, third face in, reading left to right.
Boddicker is touchy about her planet, but too detached to really stay mad about the jokes made about it. She is armed with a stub automatic, a stub revolver and a weird amount of fire bombs.

Certainly not saying that France didn't have capable brave soldiers but as you pointed out their leadership was consistently poor for over a century... and at a certain point even if you were one of those brave soldiers you have to realize that you are complicit in a military that has no desire to protect you. I would argue that the French military was more effective as resistance fighters where decisions were made at a more micro scale without a lot of top level interference; additionally their leadership in the form of British and American intelligence officers from the OSS were vastly more capable. I don't feel like the French were or should be synonymous with failure, but I do think incompetent is a operative term for them. Hell, look at what's been going on in Mali just recently; ISIS has been operating in the country with impunity eve though it's under French jurisdiction, within the past week or two an American special forces unit was ambushed on the border of Niger and Mali... and while the most substantial amount of fault to be laid at the feet of the current Trump administration and U.S. DOD, the French air support that was promised and circling the area was never actually authorized to engage the enemy during the ambush.
Now it seems to me that most if not all of those shitty French officers between WWI and WWII joined the Vichy government when the Nazi's were occupying their country whereas true patriots joined the resistance; I've been creating a regiment in my head based on the Vichy French and they are pretty detestable... I picture them wearing the trench outfits so I like the idea of the resistance theme to Boddicker, feels like of the two French themed regiments (Yours and mine) she's from "The good one".
I believe I saw her partner Brobovski in that panel as well... but was he the gentleman with the scar over his left eye?
Additionally the unnamed scarred guy, second row, fourth column from that same sampling of portraits is in my opinion almost a dead ringer for Magpie... the nose and the scars as well as the smirk are pretty much dead on.

Bobrovski has less of a set look, generally. He's usually blonde though.

As always, a pleasure to see your work, both the written and the drawn. Quite a handsome fellow, like an old Confederate soldier, almost out of place with the feel of the rest of the Unit... but there's something in his tired eyes that feels like he should be there with them. I wonder under what circumstances Imperial servants warrant the use of Juvenats. Considering he's almost as good as a Vindicare ("one of the best I've SEEN") he might be worthy.
