truer words where never spoken.or put on a stamp.
i will definetely use this on my profile ,you cant spread the word too much - its just horrible how many perfectly healthy animals die each day just because people keep "breeding"them like maniacs (most of the people who claim to be breeders dont even know what the term means, i fear . especially those people who keep "breeding" animals with actual deformities/diseases like pugs or dancing mice. breeding was actually ment to IMPROVE the animals health and abilities, and everyone who breeds sick or otherwise disabled animals on purpose completely mususes the term,i think.) .there are probably enough homeless animals right now for EVERY person to find their perfect pet.
thanks for this stamp, its pretty great <3

I couldn't agree more. People often think of animals (and children!) as what’s in it for us, but whenever you're dealing with another living creature, our lives aren't the only ones involved.

How do you feel about keeping animals as pets? Should it still be legal? My answer is yes. What about yours?

As long as they're happy, I don't think it matters. I have pets.

I finally found a stamp like this!
5 years ago, my family & I went to adopt a dog after we had to get rid of our first dog, whom we got from a breeder about 3 years before. My brother, who was 5 at the time, found a dog he adored there- he was brown with a bit of black on him, and he looked pretty healthy. He was amazing: He didn't bark, he was good with me & my brother, he was playful... I could go on. 5 years later, he's a very happy and healthy 6 year old dog who has turned into a giant sook XD
The only time we had a problem with adoption was a few months ago, when we adopted a girl. She scratched at the dog door (which is expected, I guess), she jumped up on our couch (Once again, expected), but we had to get rid of her after she started tearing up the dog beds. I do suspect she's healthy and happy with another family though

Cool! I'd love to adopt fish (because that's what I'm set up for), but I'm not sure where to go to do that.

Yeah, they get theirs from breeders. I was hoping to rescue some from being flushed down the toilet.

If everyone stopped breeding in less than 20 years there would be no more dogs :/ . Nothing wrong with getting a dog from a responsible breeder.

I have nothing against responsible breeders. Unfortunately, there are too many people breeding right now, and because of that the shelters are forced to euthanize hundred of viable animals every day in order to make room for more.

I was looking up for something. You know the pop-star Miley Cyrus (owns a pig and six dogs) after the donation she was doing to the homeless people she also started donating to homeless cats and dogs ... and everyone was laughing?

I don't know much about Miley Cyrus or her donations, but I can see people laughing at her for donating to homeless animal shelters. Maybe the way she phrased it was funny. I don't know.

No actually it was a forum and the reason they laughed was becuase they found ridiculously useless donating to poor animals.

That's really sad... Some people just don't grasp the gravity of the situation. I don't think anyone with half a soul wants hundreds of dogs and cats to be euthanized every day. People just don't want to believe that it's really happening.

I remember my second dog I got a few months after my first died. He was very unpleasant, always pooping inside the house and once covered the house with skunk stank. We ended up returning him, for him to be adopted a week later. Adopting doesn't always work out.

I'm sorry that happened, but it had nothing to do with adoption. All dogs have the potential to be irritating, including fancy-bred ones. Any dog will poop in the house if you don't train him, and any dog will bring in skunk smell if they happen to get skunked, and all it takes to get skunked is for there to be skunks around your property. Either way, it's good that he's in a good home now!

I am planning on adopting a cat from a shelter when all my mice die.
But you see, it is not always easy, especially for first time pet owners with families. They need to research on the breed and sometimes get a specific breed, why sometimes people can only get dogs from breeders.
Not everyone who wants a purebred dog is a "snob who wants to win in shows", it is because they need to be aware of the breeds pros and cons, and getting an unknown mix is hard to know.
My first dog I will ever get will be a French Bulldog from a breeder (or possibly from a shelter that knows it is purebred) because I know their basic needs, pros and cons. They are lazy, don't need much exercise and stubborn. Perfect for me. Then when I know a lot about dogs and get a suitable house I can get one from a shelter. Especially in an apartment that does not always allow pets I really need to be 100% sure of the breeds requirements.
But I agree, if they can get one from a shelter, they should.

Aww, I had pet mice was I was younger! Mice make really good pets.
True, and the breeders need homes for their pets, but shelters often provide breed information as well. What I meant in this stamp is that the caring way to find a pet would be through adoption. I never said people who buy purebreds are snobs. Again, shelters often know what breed mixes their animals are, and often, a mix of several breeds is a very good way to go, because every breed has cons, and if not inbred, thn pros tend overule the cons. Suvival of the fittest.
You could go looking or calling around for French Bulldogs or French Bulldog mixes at shelters near you. It can't hurt at least take a look and see what they have there.

They do :3
Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. If they do I will buy a shelter dog, but it must be a French Bulldog because that is the easiest one I can get for where I live.
I was just quoting what some pro-adoption anti-breeding people say.
I will look at the shelters first, then if I can't find one then I will have to go to a breeder.

Yeah, that's fine. I'd call around and see if they have labradors or lab mixes if I were looking for a dog. I'd be okay getting a totally different breed of dog, too, but that's just me.
Oh, okay! I was confused there for a minute because I'd never said anything about purebred owners being snobs.

And it is always good to research on the breed. So many people adopt a dog and they just don't know why it is hyper, sad, etc.

Dogs that are sad because the owners didn't reasearch on the breed and are not giving him the requirements he needs/wants.

Oh, yes. Even if you don't know much about the breed, dogs are relatively logical animals and will tell you what they need, and verterinarians can also help. With other animals, like fish, you have to know about their breeds or they will die within weeks.

Got our dog from the shelter after he showed up randomly. Most amazing animal ever. Much better than if we got a pure bred, he's a mutt all the way through.
