Description Being here on Deviantart means you meet all sorts of people and one of the individuals here that inspires me is *Dakota-Spirit She works at an Animal Shelter and has a wonderful gallery here that is a real eye opener as you get to see all sorts of dogs that need a home.

All of these dogs are beautiful and more than often they need a home not because they are "problems" but because their owners simply didn't think about them when planning their careers/families etc.

When you're looking for another dog, please think carefully and consider adoption. It is a great way to find that special family member as they are desexed, up-to-date with the shots and microchipped.

This photograph was obtained from Stock.Xchang and if you want to know how to display this stamp on your Deviantart page please refer here - [link]

I adopted my doggy from a rescue center. She had been through 3 homes before us and she was 2 years old, poor girl she was just shy is all. She has been with us now for 2 years and it was the best decision i have ever made

i did not adopt my dog but she had 8 brothers and they all were abusing her, she gave me a look like: Please for the love of god get me out of here!, and at that moment she was mine and still has been for 5 years.

*Shakes head*Β I disagree with adopting pets, want to know why? Β look up retail rescues, they ARE real and sell dogs for profit!

I've read complaints about people who adopted dogs and I've had bad experiences myself.

It's got to a point where I don't trust rescues or shelters anymore and neither do people in the same boat as me.

Adopted or sold, they ALL need homes.

Believe me I'm not trying to start a fight, I just recommend doing a search on retail rescue and pet flipping. It's a horrible practice that needs to be stopped and fake rescues are the ones doing it!

Just because some fake rescues do it doesn't mean all rescues do. Believe me, I'm in rescue, and it's pretty hard with unneeded drama and dogs staying at fosters for months on end just because the rescue's too busy networking dogs that don't need it and could easily find a home even at a shelter. And then all of this just boils down to the overpopulation. Rescue puts a lot of stress on people, because every day more and more dogs are flooding into shelter. People get fed up, and snap at eachother. They create drama and do the wrong things.

The easiest way to rescue a pet is just to stay away from the Social Media, go to the shelter, and adopt an animal. The only thing that comes out of rescue drama is hate and dead dogs. So I do agree with you, slightly. Some "rescues" get so fed up with the overflow of dogs that they just throw them away to terrible homes. Every pet needs a good home, whether it be breeder or rescue, but there are way too many dogs in this world to handle. Of course there are responsible breeders, but way too many backyard breeders and puppy mills, who only focus on money and not the health and well being of their dogs. I've seen too much death, in shelters and in rescue, to accept dog breeders.

Allow me to demonstrate an example, if you will. Several months ago there was a case up North from where I live, where a woman who claimed to be a rescuer andlove and care for her dogs was actually containing them all in a large warehouse, starving the dogs and not giving them any attention or love. The warehouse reeked of urine, feces, and sickness. A few of the dogs even died at the warehouse, sadly. Other dogs were damaged beyond repair and died a few weeks or months later. Eventually all the living dogs were rescued and saved, despite being deeply damaged. The woman, however, committed suicide a few months later from all the hate and death threats that were being sent to her.Β

Now here's an example of a good story, one I experienced: My mom, sister and I found a small, fluffy white dog by the road. We coaxed him in and took him home, naming him Cheerio because he liked them so much (and that's what we lured him in with). We fostered him for a long time, and he went from being a dirty, flea-ridden dog into the beautiful snow white toy poodle that he was. Now he is happy at another home, and even has a companion, who is another white poodle (the person who adopted him really likes toy poodles). They even took him and his companion to meet santa at a mall.

There is good and bad in rescue, but not all of it is bad or good. I do agree with your statement on some circumstances- many fake rescues are dog flippers and care nothing for their dogs. This is one of the reasons why I'm slowly edging out of rescue- all of the lying and dog flipping and drama. People care no longer for the dogs, and only care about besting their rivals. I and my family are some of the few people who actually try to care about the dogs, sadly. I hope one day rescue becomes no longer so corrupt.

(sorry for rambling, I have a strong opinion about these issues . have a nice day, anyway)

I understand, I've read experiences from people who either quit or were fired from rescue groups because many peopleΒ tried to blow the whistle on what they were doing.

The fake and knock off rescues make it harder to find ones that are decent.

And because a fake rescue pretty much sold my dog 5 years ago, it left me feeling bitter, their excuse was they didn't think I could provide her with an adequate home so they gave her to another family. It made no sense because I had my dog for 5 years, from the time she was a puppy plus I had plenty ofΒ medical records, family photosΒ and receipts from buying food and such to prove she was well cared for but all these people saw was a healthy purebred dog they could easily sell.

I'm still trying to find her, if I do she'll be old now, not that I wouldn't love her any less I'm just hurt that the last time I saw her she was in the prime of her life and I have no idea what she looks like nowΒ or if she's still in good health.

Stormclooks In reply to RJ8 [2016-12-22 04:07:31 +0000 UTC]

Ugh, yes, I hate fake rescues. They make it so much harder to find a decent, well behaved dog, because by the time it's Β been through their nasty hands it's been damaged so much...

I truly hope you find your dog, I could never imagine how many inboxes I'd be blowing up if my dog got stolen in such a way. These fake rescues believe that they are the best, when instead they are giving their dogs to horrible homes when they had a perfectly fine one before.

There have been too many stories where a perfectly fine dog was taken away and given to an animal abuser/ or owner that didn't know how to take care of them and dumped them at a shelter.

I hope your dog found a good home, possibly rescued from the rescue, and I do wish you luck in finding her. And remember that even if she is gone, she's watching you from above. <3

Thanks.

I'm still looking, she is registered with a kennel club and they'll let me know if someone tries to register her under a different name. I do have a cousin of hers that I got from a breeder. He's a real sweetheart, would love to have him certified as a therapy/service dog.Β

it is just terrible that animals get left on there own. no food, water, or shelter...and sometimes when animal control people come to the house the animal is at...its too late. i volunteer at local animal shelters to help and save animals. i have had to see soo many dogs and cats put down cause they are in serious injury. its not their faults, its the so called β€˜owners’ fault.

I agree.
It's better, in a way, to adopt then to buy dogs which have a home with their parents and siblings and are going to be sold anyway. Adopted dogs appreciate it in loads of ways and are truly your companions for the rest of their lives. I'm not saying that purchased dogs aren't, on the contrary, but I think that the bond is somehow stronger when you adopt

I this stamp, I wish I was a subscriber and be able to use it. But so far, a and a collection will do just fine.

Thank you for creating it, though I'm a bit sad it's a scrap

Yeah! Im getting a dog and im gonna adopt from a shelter.
because if one of those fancy purebred breeder dogs didnt get adopted, i have afeeling they WOULDNT be euthanized, unlike so many other dogs that will Plus i find shelter dogs to be sweeter, like they know what youve done for them when you adopt them but maybe thats just me...
also I want to get a black dog, because its proven that people tend to overlook Black dogs because they prefer lighter ones. Which surprised me because ive always favored the darker ones....
but anyways, great stamp lol

I hope more people start adopting doggies instead of getting them all at puppy stores at malls..

I adopted a dog some months after my first dog died, and she is a doll.
But when we first had her, she was real submissive, so my dad assumed her previous owner must have been rough on her.
But we love her to bits
