Description Silver gelatin print on Kentmere neutral tone glossy fiber-based paper, tea stained.
Size: ca. 40"w x 50"h

A broken body, ripped apart and then loosely and somewhat sloppily pieced back together, held in place with surgical tape. A discussion with my instructor allowed me to realize that these images, and this one in particular, don't have to be pigeonholed into one specific subject matter... she made mention of a general feeling of being less than whole, and a need to put oneself back together after experiencing something upsetting or traumatic. I like this idea, and I do think this piece illustrates such an emotion quite well.

I actually had a discussion with my counselor to this regard; the feeling of being torn apart repeatedly and the pieces never quite fitting into place again. The moment I saw this I about jumped out of my seat. Now I want to browse the rest of your gallery! ^^

Really like this a lot =o The whole series of them in fact. I think because it looks dirty and kinda unfocused and stitched. Usually stitches are associated with sterile hospitals... so yes, very interesting technique. Gonna fav a couple.

Ooh, you're right. I didn't think of it in terms of contrast between dirtiness and sterility... very interesting.
