Description A small bookshop in Downtown Amman., Jordan

This is the second of four shots of mine that was displayed in a gallery for Jordanian photographers in an area called Webdeh (the artistic district of Amman).

The intention of this project was to show local Jordanian traders surrounded by the objects of their trade.

This project was one of exploration, it was an attempt to depart from my regular "comfort zone" of architectural and historical object oriented photography, and try to introduce and challenge myself to quick minded photojournalistic photography, while keeping "my" signature feel in the Pictures.

I have a devout love for books! although they are like anchors in life, tying you down to a particular place! Sometimes I think to myself, how am I going to carry all my books if I wanted to move to a new country

It's very humbling to be able to appreciate these photos of yours...
He really shows his passions towards knowledge, reading in a bookshop that he owns...

Thank you! i really enjoyed taking the series.

I remember walking in on him reading and thinking that he must own this place just for himself and not really for others.

Mmm, old bookstores are a favourite of mine. So many hidden treasures there, I'm sure that place reeks of age of wisdom! This shot really depicts that atmosphere well. Just amazing.

I love libraries, the intellectual atmosphere and the idea of infinite amounts of knowledge make me think that we as people can actually produce something beautiful and selfless.

Bookshops also have the same feel, even though they are their for profit making nevertheless they help people improve and progress.

btw nice new avatar! i didn't recognize you for a moment

Ah, you described that beautifully. I love libraries/bookshops also just for that, it's amazing to get lost in all that wisdom and beauty. I guess mankind isn't all that bad!
