I think the title suits it perfectly. You did a great job on this, the blending is seamless. May I ask how you blend so well? I'm now a big fan of your art, hope you do more soon.

Oh nice! The rent in the clouds is paticularly wonderful. You have acheived a photorealism here that actually had me fooled up until you stated otherwise. It's a great composition and the edges of the clouds within the opening itself are masterfully done.

I love this one, the texture in the clouds and sky are wonderful - this is in fact one of the reasons I adore speedpaints, the brushstrokes have to be very skilfully handled or they just look shoddy. Done well, it's exquisite, and this is a good one.

I would love very much to see a link to the original image that you used for reference, because there are aspects of this image that I would like to make comments on that I feel are probably best explained by seeing that image.
I will say that after checking out =mynti's version of this same picture, a few things were made clearer, although I will still like to see the original.
First of all, the light coming through the large hole in the clouds is far too concentrated for so large an opening. It looks more like you would see coming through small breaks in the clouds, rather than a large clear opening.
On a whole, but especially regarding the ground, the image is too soft, too blurry to pick out any details. Whether or not this is a result of the original image, I don't know, but certainly there is more stark detail in =mynti's version.
Other than that, great lighting and coloration, and it definitely does justice to the title, bringing forth the full mood that you get just after a fierce storm.
Well done, and get me a link to that reference!

Hm, yeah, I didn't pay too much attention to the ground, since the clouds were the main focus to me. also, I had the reference photo zoomed out all the time, so I didn't really notice much of the detail on there.
here's a link to the original reference, but you will have to log in to see it full size: [link]

Okay, now that I can see the original, I think that most of the mistakes or problems that I saw with this image to begin with were just a result of speedpainting. Well done.

This is amazing. I notice that your version of this one is quite a bit darker than mynti's. Not quite sure what to get out of that, but that's just what I noticed. ^_^

Sorry to comment again, but....I was wondering if you have any tips for speed painting?
and also, have you ever made any home prints? I need to make a few prints tommorow.
If your busy and don't feel like answering n' stuff its cool. Ill come to digibrush or digimedia and bug you though, you can't escape forever.

omg I'm being stalked!
haha, no worries, I have a spare moment just took a break from painting...
as for tips regarding speedpainting...it's probably easier when you start out with photoreferences that you try to paint, and set yourself a really small time frame, one hour, and stick to that. it'll help you to focus on the most important things, such as composition, colours, values and such. That's what speed painting is about, it will sharpen your eye and make you faster
I have never done any home made prints, really. my printer is rather bad and always makes problems. and local print studios are quite expensive, so yeah, dA is my choice. and I love their prints quality

Wait, so, that took you an hour?
That's it? An hour.
Have I told you how insanely awesome you are? Well I'm telling you now.

It's not nice of me, it's just the truth. =O
Hehe, see? it was so good people are thinking it's a photo.
Think you could help me out with something? I want to paint portraits of my friends for christmas, and I'm hoping to find a digital printing place in the City nearby, I'm just wondering how large the image should be if I want to get it printed. Any idea or advice on how big it should be and such?
Thanks love. <3
