Description Yet another Asian cinema fanart. Gah, I really need to pay more attention to my own imagination, rather than to other people's. *sweatdrop* Oh, well.

This is a tribute to one of my all-time favorite films, The Road Home, which was directed a ways back by Zhang Yimou (you know, the same dude who made Hero and the like). Although I adore his newer stuff, I can't help but consider TRH my favorite - it makes me cry every single bloody time I watch it. It's not a chick flick, persay, but it's got this bittersweet faerie tale-like quality to it that really reaches deep.

The girl's name is Zhao Di, played in the movie by none other than our dear friend Zhang Ziyi. I think she really showed her true skills playing Di. That's just my two pennies, though 0 see it for yourself.

Watercolor, pencil, gel pen.

you're welcome
That movie never really gets the credits it deserves..

It's so rare to find movies with such a simple story but still capable of delivering so many emotions.
I guess we all have to thank Yimou and, obiouvsly, the amazing talent of Ziyi if we can be here today enjoying this masterpiece

Hehe, thanks very much! I don't think she looks as much like Ziyi as I wanted her to, but I';m glad you were able to discern it.

There is a movie that makes me cry everytime I see it (not just The Secret Garden when Mary meets her biological father for the first time) but My Youth in Arcadia. I don't know what it is about that movie but it always tugs at my heartstrings. Nevertheless, this is a very heartfelt illustration and I absolutely adore it. The colors are remarkable and her expression is appropriate...Wonderful.

It is. Do you know Captain Harlock ? It goes into his past and discloses how he met Tochiro. It also speaks of Maya and an alien race that lost all of their female members so they can no longer exist... It's interesting. Many plots are intwined into the fabric of the film.

You have such rad watercolor skills. I'm in awe And that sounds like a very interesting movie-- Zhang Yimou and Zhang Ziyi are always a good combination

Yeah, those two really are good together, aren't they? Actually, Zhang Yimou used to have a similar director-actress relationship with Gong Li, with whom he started a romance (not done with Ziyi, evidently) and eventually broke up. That caused him to split with Li and cultivate Ziyi. It's complicated. :S

Hey, I speak only the truth

To put it lightly, heh. I didn't know that, how interesting... I have to say, I'm not exactly on the up-and-up with my Chinese movie knowledge. ^^ Was she the actress in the Red Lantern, by any chance? Her name seems very familiar...

Sweet, not as epic in collaboration as your other pieces, but a nice gentle piece. The colours are calming and blend nicely together, soft and very radient in a subtle way. As always you do such pretty black hair *eats it*. And yet another art from an obscure film, how many of these do you watch?
