Thank you so much. I always wanted to paint a winged person so this is it/ him.

Thank you so much for the comment, I appreciate the advice. Regarding the wings, I wanted to sort of make them part of the sky (part visible, part not) like they are forming from the shadows behind him. Maybe this was not the best idea ever It seamed poetic enough in my mind... Note to self (work harder for a proper idea execution).
I toyed with the idea of positioning the mask closer to the face but I got sidetracked by the fact that in some depictions of the character it had the mask positioned at the waist and at one depiction it was positioned at chest level like a breastplate... so in the end I chose something in the middle which raised the problems you noticed (thank you for pointing them out).
Thank you again for the comment.

He's wonderful!Β Your colors are beautiful.Β I would suggest curling his wings inward so they are not as flat and perhaps giving the petals in the front a soft blur -- they are so sharp that they draw the eye away from your central figure.Β The fan is beautifully drawn, but I think the top part needs a more apparent shadow so I can really tell where it's positioned -- I'm having a hard time telling how far away he's holding it.Β The hand that's holding the fan, I'd suggest a stronger highlight on top following the highlight on the fingers as well and a stronger shadow where he's gripping the fan.Β It took me a while to realize that his palm is pointing down, not up!
Please take my comments with a grain of salt and keep up the amazing work!Β

Thank you so much for your comments. They are very helpful. I always avoid making strong shadows or lights for that matter. I usually lower their opacity at 60%. Maybe it is time for me to be bolder. For the wings, I was trying to make them as part of the shadows in the background (well not part exactly but something as being part of the shadows and yet visible...) so I sort of lost the depth in the process, and I also wanted to leave them in the back in order not interfere over the fan. As for the fan he is holding it almost parallel to the arm so not very far.Β Anyway thank you again for your comment it is very helpful.

Ah! I never thought about using opacity to change the strength of my highlights and shadows! *facepalm* I need to try that!

Thank you. I am glad you like them. I was afraid the colors for the background were too dark though.

I came to this piece through . Now I've not seen the film or read the manga, and can't find any screen grabs, so I can't make any comment on character likeness.
What I can say is that you have good anatomy including the wings, design for a formal kimono and for the mask and staff, oh and a new Watcher.

Thank you so much for the comment. I am so relieved I got the anatomy right although I think there is room for improvement. The staff is not actually a staff it is a fan with a long handle (a paddle fan) it is called "uchiwa". It was part of the original design of the character. You can see the original design here: onmyojiguide.com/shikigami-lisβ¦
Thank you so much for the watch. I gave one back to you.
