Facebook:www.facebook.com/JenWArts?ref=… Tumblr: mangakasanakajenw.tumblr.com/ Basil is an OOAK sculpture commissioned by She asked me to create her pet parrot Basil and he was loads of fun to do, also because it's the first bird/feathered creature i've sculpted so lots of challenges there, also a piece i created with air dry clay in majority over polymer clay (just the head and neck/chest is done in polymer clay).
Sculpted over a wire frame with airdry and polymer clays, has hand cast/painted eyes and was painted with acrylics and pastels.

Superb job! I'd never guess that you hadn't sculpted feathers prior to this piece - it's spot on. Grey parrots' feathers are dense and many of them are very tiny - not the easiest to reproduce.

Thank you! right now i am doing a conure and birds really are difficult anatomical wise because all those feathers hide their shapes lol (not to mention how tricky and puzzling wings and tails are to figure out haha)

prices vary it all depends on what kind of sculpture (size,complexity etc) is ordered, the base prices can be found here
Sculpture commission info/policyBasic information:
Before contacting me about a commission carefully read the pricing and policy information, and keep in mind that lots of time and material (costs) go into sculpting so i cant afford to sell them cheaply.
I will only work on 1 or 2 commissions at a time but will maintain a reserving list, when your on that list i will contact you when i'm ready to start on the commission.
Before i will start sculpting your commission i will make a sketch first send this to the commissioner and when approved i will ask for a deposit (which will be half of the total sum) i will not start on the commission untill i received the deposit.
I will keep the commissioner updated with lots of work in progress photos and the commissioner has freedom to ask for changes (note that when a sculpture has progressed to far the changes cant be to radical anymore (especially after baking)
So to make the progress go smoothly think over carefully what you want your sculpture to look like (pose/color etc.) (you can always pm me if you want an accurate price quote) tho at the moment sculpt commissions are closed until my current commissions are done

Everything is good but the wings. The anatomy on everything else is spot on but for your next bird if you do one, I strongly would advise you to research wing anatomy because they don't look anything like that. Try and think of almost a tear-drop shape for the folded wings - with the large part at the shoulder and have it taper off. If a bird's real wings looked like that, they'd end up being square.
The rest of it is a very nice sculpture though. The face especially is good.

I'll keep it in mind next time i need to do folded/semi folded wings, (i did use a lot of referencing but i think part of the blame was the base of the wings * i didn't have mesh at the time which would have made it a bit more easier to get the shape right...* ) Anyway i will try harder in the future
