I feel that its design bears similarities towards the psudeo-dinosaurs of the Triassic period, making it feel more ancient, more primal. However, the tiny eyes underneath the horns kind of make it look a bit derpy to me. Of course, truth be told, the eye placement would probably be more beneficial towards a creature like this...
Anyways, I love the design. Beautiful in a primal, ancient powerhouse kind of way.

I love how all around lizardy it is. It's clearly a fantastic monster without any earthly ancestry, but it just somehow invokes a big, chubby desert lizard in so many different ways.

this looks like horny toad+nuclear waste went all godzilla style on us! i love it! as an animal nerd, i enjoy the well-observed head anatomy the most. very authentic and believable, to me it anchors the rather outlandish rest of the body and makes the beast as a whole appear like something that could actually exist! wonderful work!

A nice earthy surface look. The heavy textures help make it look truly massive. I especially like the big froggy mouth and the beady little eyes. It really feels like an insatiable eating machine that doesn't care what it puts into its mouth.
The omnipedal stance works better than I'd expect. Everyone knows the Tarrasque is the Godzilla of D&D, but a little Anguirus or Baragon to the design really brings it all together.

Love it, the Tarrasque is originally an old French legend, different sort of critter in the legend, love your take on the D&D creature.

I like this. It's a more natural rendition of the beast.

Nice reinterpretation! Looks stockier, and more armoured, with all those bony plates on its "arms". And the legs now seem to be truly able to lift its humongous mass... Good design!

This has got to be my favorite version of the Tarrasque - it looks way better than any of the official art!

Looks like a blend of an ankylosaurus and a horned lizard. Nice job.

Awesome work! I always imagined the Tarrasque looking somewhat like this and like something from the movie Pacific Rim.

Man this is so cool; this looks like it should be in the Chronicles of Narnia or Lord of the Rings series of movies. Maybe even in a Thor movie.

Love this image.
I remember a running "out of charater" gag my gaming group used to do is when ever we opened a door, or went into a new area, we would say "and there's a/the Tarrasque!" Thankfully this never actually happened in game, though if it had occurred when we were playing our epic level game thing would've been cinch, we just need a wish spell to finish it off.

Haha, nice. How high did you guys get in the epic level campaign? I got up to level 20 at the tail end of a 2.5 year campaign, but no higher.
Thanks!

TRice01 In reply to M0AI [2013-06-08 21:22:30 +0000 UTC]
Oh we started at that level. Our DM modified the character creation process to put us pas level 20, the idea being that we were the amazing heroes that saved the world and we were coming back to do it again. Or something like that. This was back in the days of 3.0 if I remember correctly. So it's been a while. ^_^
Thanks for the response! Keep up the amazing work.

My inspiration, besides the original D&D art, is nature. Fossils, extant animals, creatures of all sorts.

i'm making a full campaign against this thing, all started with a chalenge of other DM friend of mine. he said he wanted a campaign for playing for a long time and maked a whole undead cult mafia thing, so i told him he was being repetitive and made a whole cosmology making the tarasque que final thing capable of tearing the same veil of exitance combining the 3 powers of the universe. and a crazy shaman cult want it to destroy the universe so they can make it again. obviously i won, but nobody wanted to fight the apocalypse turtle
