I'm kind of worried about critiquing this since you have worked on it all day. O.O So as my disclaimer, please don't be offended by anything I say, I write for constructive criticism, and honestly it is all opinion which varies greatly from person to person...so don't take it too seriously. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="387" title=" (Wink)"/>
With that said, I must say that I love this picture! The glasses are adorable, and the sleepy blue character is lovely. I can actually imagine the brown one either being very hyperactive while their friend is just...not. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/> Or the brown one talking on and on about something and boring the blue one. Either way, I love that I can envision a personality for the characters. Definitely a PRO! Now your blue character I don't think has enough definition. I think it is because in some areas the dark blue is beginning to blend with the black outline and so it gets kind of difficult to distinguish. I also think on this one, the ear closest to its back legs is a little off. Maybe too big, or at the wrong angle, I'm not sure, but it doesn't seem to quite fit. I had that issue with the brown one as well, I couldn't quite tell if you were going for a second ear or a horn so that could be done a bit better. I also would have liked it if you went a little bit further with this one's hair as you did with the blue one. However, I do understand why you didn't. White hair tends to look very blobby without definition, while the brown hair didn't have that problem. Still I think working on a few strands would have bumped it up a little. I also think the blue one's tail could be a bit fluffier. But I have no reason for that, I just think it would look better. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>
I really like your characters and as a rough sketch I think you did wonderfully. Thanks for sharing and for allowing me the opportunity to voice my opinion. Keep up the good work!!

Thank you for the critique, I appreciate it!
For their personalities, I'm happy I was able to convey them so well! Steam (Left) is a talkative pony with too many ideas to keep in his head, while Dusk (Right) doesn't care much about how brilliant his friend is. And, he probably doesn't understand half of what Steam is saying most of the time, so it makes it a convenient time for a nap, eh?
On the topic of the coat colours and the outlines- they actually look a bit more distinguishable in Krita (The art program I use) than on DA, which is odd to me. Although, I know that images may look different on different monitors, programs, etc. so I might bump up the lightness on Dusk's coat colours in the future to accommodate for that.
I was originally going to shade in Steam's hair close to how I did Dusk's hair*, but it was late at night and I wanted to upload it before today. I almost uploaded this before I realized that Dusk was missing his tail, so I kinda rushed to add that in
[*These were actually going to be separate images in the beginning, but I liked how they looked together in the end, so they were combined!]
With the other things you pointed out, I see and realize that they need a bit of tweaking. It's always nice to have a fresh set of eyes looking for mistakes, because after a while of drawing you tend to get a bit blind sighted by little things.
Again, thank you for the critique!
