Description The Kalu are a non-sentient species that are endemic to a vast desert. The desert is on a planet in a binary system, with one Sol-like sun and one pale blue star about as bright as an especially full moon. That said, the desert doesn't get much cooler over the 'night' period and the Kalu have evolved bare chests, underarms and so forth as well as sweat glands to keep cool. The feathers and intense beak serve as UV protection and built in visor.

The domesticated version is an extremely competent beast of burden, as well as an occasional mount. As mounts, they provide a famously bumpy ride but are fantastic on the charge.

I’m looking like something much like this for my fantasy novel. Could you keep me in mind for when you’re open for commission?

I saw this while looking at the pending submissions for BeastKitchen, which led me to your gallery. I love bulky beasts!
