Description Thought I'd take a break from hats for a little while and try some new stuff. I've made a bunch of mitts and a couple cowls which I really love. As usual, makes me mourn the hot Hawaiian winters.

The Communion Mitts pattern is from my all-time favorite knitting book, Knit One, Embellish Too by Cosette Cornelius-Bates. And the Auerbach mitts are named for Dan Auerbach, whose album I can't stop listening to.

I don't have patterns for anything, but there are TONS of awesome patterns on ravelry.com. It's free to join and most of the (probably tens of thousands) of patterns are free. You can definitely find what you're looking for!

Number 6 is beautiful!
If you don't mind me asking, how did you make it?

lily-fox In reply to HorseCookies [2011-09-16 00:03:56 +0000 UTC]

That was probably the easiest thing ever. I just knit a flat rectangular piece (with a little knit/purl pattern in), put buttonholes on one edge and buttons on the other. Voila!

Wow! Sounds easy! Thank you!

Out of curiosity how long was your piece?

I have idea, to be honest. I sold it and don't know if I have the measurements anywhere. Long enough to wrap around your neck comfortably?

dear lily-fox,
gosh, I love all your stuff.. Your art. Your knitting-stuff.. Everything!
Until it is winter again it is still time, but I will definitely need this strawberry-warmers. They are so wonderfully beautiful and perfect to go with my strawberry hat, which I bought from you ([link] ).
Best wishes!

They are awesome! How long did it take to make one mitt?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lily-fox In reply to Bleed4Love [2010-08-19 22:17:57 +0000 UTC]

At first? Forever. ;D Well, maybe a few four days, off and on. Now I can make a pair in a day, depending.

That's cool! I gotta try sometime. Not necessary just knitting, but make with other warm and soft fabrics and machine sew (seems easier to do than knitting).

Hello!! I just wanted to let you know that your knitting designs are always very beautiful and I admire your skill.
I was wondering, do you accept commissions for your knitted work? I was hoping to get a pair like the first one in this picture but if not that's okay too. I'll just keep an eye out for your next available mittens.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lily-fox In reply to Leesha007 [2010-01-06 05:34:23 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! i do accept knitting commissions, but that green pair is actually from someone else's pattern and so I can't sell them. The pattern can be found in my favorite pattern book, Knit One, Embellish Too by Cosette Cornelius-Bates. Check it out!

Leesha007 In reply to lily-fox [2010-01-06 14:40:54 +0000 UTC]

Oh! Okay. Would it be possible just to get a pair in that same green though? It doesn't need to have the design on it, I just love the color~ Maybe like design number 5 but with the same colors from one?
Thanks for your time!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lily-fox In reply to Leesha007 [2010-01-06 21:59:59 +0000 UTC]

You bet! I love that green, too, it's out of this world. So a design with the little pip pattern on? What would you like for a contrasting color?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Leesha007 In reply to lily-fox [2010-01-07 00:01:19 +0000 UTC]

I would love that same tan/brown color you used in the first one. Or white. Whichever suits you when you make it. Thank you! How do you want this to work? Do you need me to pay you before or would you prefer after? Either works for me.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lily-fox In reply to Leesha007 [2010-01-07 00:30:09 +0000 UTC]

The color in the Auerbach mitts is like a dark pumpkin orange. I think it'll look nice with the green, I just wanted to let you know. I do have some dark brown, but no mid-brown, unfortch.

What I'll do is knit them first, then put them up on Etsy marked "reserved" for you. When they're up, I'll send you the link to the listing, and you buy them from Etsy (PayPal or check), and Etsy will ask for your shipping address. Then I send 'em out! Bada bing.

Leesha007 In reply to lily-fox [2010-01-07 03:12:42 +0000 UTC]

Okay.. Let's do the orange. Thanks again! Bout how long will they take?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lily-fox In reply to Leesha007 [2010-01-07 07:24:53 +0000 UTC]

Welp, I've got a pretty hefty list of commissions which I'm working through, so I'll have to put you on the list. I reckon they won't take longer than a month to get to. Is that all right?

I absolutely love the mitts in the middle! These are all great. It makes me want to make a pair. I'd have to get my knitting needles back out first... and practice a whole heckuva lot. xD

I don't, actually, I just made most of these up as I went. The Communion Mitts is from a pattern in my favorite knitting book, Knit One, Embellish Too by Cosette Cornelius-Bates, though, and I highly recommend it!
