Marron knew that Rose was ashamed of her Sybal. He didn’t know why, and knew enough about how it could be not to ask. It always saddened him. That wall again, between knowing and unknowing someone. Knowing only half of her.
It wasn’t often the opportunity came up to ask, but as Marron considered what to say, he watched her with an unusual, measuring intensity, and it occurred to him that that sounded like a segway to asking... “Why?”
A gentle, almost sing-song question.

The question rang in Rose's ears. He'd never pried before about her sybal. She'd never expected him to.
Looking up she studied him before looking away. Ta Yeh had been helping her, building up her confidence for something just like this. But it was difficult.
She took a deep breath before looking back at him, a determined look on her face, "You have to tell me a secret, too. That is the deal, yes?"

Marron’s eyebrows jumped. Surprised, though not offended. “For--- for the Tell? Oh. Aye, aye that’s how it works…!” A pause. “Is that what ye’d like to make it?”

Rose nodded, "Yes. I will tell you about my sybal." Her hands fidgeted and she began to fiddle with her hair. "I will trust that you will tell me something as important."

“Uh- Right here?”

Rose scanned the area. The crowds had moved on to the food carts for the time being. They had a good hour or two before they'd make their way back to the part of the market she was set up in.
"Right here is as good a place as any, I suppose," she said with a small smile.
