Tbh my (non-member) Sybal has been left on the backburner for a while. Even tho I have the "entering sybal-heim" event all thought out. Hopefully I'll get the time to draw it. So it's cool of you giving us "rejects" a fun challange XD Really like how you frame your Sybal-Heim pieces btw, like some kinda stained glass. B-e-a-utiful, have to step up my game :3

HHHHH thank Meemz OuO. He is so very fancy, hair slicked back and everything. I think he dresses the way he does now out of sheer spite.

Oh my gosh-
I had no idea that your Treasure illustration was part of an ongoing series! This is wonderful! :3c
I'm hoping to raise to the challenge, but not right away, unfortunately. Still, thank you very very much for sharing this! So pretty!!! The framing, the marks of ink reminding me of Basileus, the zoom on both characters and a portrait on the whole scene in all its bright marvel: beau-ti-ful!!!

Yesss yesssss very good. I approve of Marron's fancy clothes. XD Also the colors came out so nice! Especially in the bg! And I like that you added Bassy's hands in. Creepin Ink dad. lol! And omg you left the paw prints. "Welcome to petco, sir."

Of course I left the paws in, they add an element of silly underneath all the pomp and circumstance for those paying attention. Just like Theo. xD

AAAA i love this so much, it's like i'm looking through Basileus portal, and those black lines behind it, like Basileus is watchingΒ Β (idk if you meant it like that or not, but it's awsome)!!!Β Β
And the story behind it!! I wonder what exaclty prevented him when he saw it?

I definitely have to agree with that other person, the composition on this is super eye catching!! You have such good movement in here, there's a lot of life in this image, and the lighting in this is hnnnnnnn so stunning. This is a really beautiful piece.

birdmir [2016-07-14 18:55:57 +0000 UTC]
The composition here is so cool and unique! : O You have this whole cool triptych thing going on, and you have the characters close up so we can see emotion, and small so we can see action. That is so clever, I gotta try that.
9v9 I'll keep this prompt in mind, I'm one of those waiting for an opening. XD

Oooh, good on you for knowing the word! That's exactly what I based the design off of. OuO I really enjoy exploring the tradition of summarized narrative in a single piece, and I think I'm finally getting the swing of it!
Pls you must do it, especially as you go to develop your character knowing what their experience was is extremely helpful! Do you mind if I ask what you have developed so far for your character?

birdmir In reply to Leunbrund [2016-07-14 19:23:21 +0000 UTC]
Haha, I'm minoring in art history, I gotta know the vocabulary. :'DΒ And omg, I love doing that too, trying to use composition to get an entire story, sans comic panels. Masaccio's "The Tribute Money" is a great example, I think. I generally just place the figures in chronological order from left to right, butΒ you're more sophisticated. I'll have to really take a good look at this! : O
That's good advice.Β You know,Β nothing lets you write a character better than experience, which you usually get AFTER you makeΒ the app. XD
I have the Sybal all drawn up here! - Sylvan Liar Β
His name's Seireadan Connolly, an Irishman who immigrated to the USA during the Potato Famine. The oldest of his family, he had both the pressure of sending money back home and surviving in the working conditions in New York. Eventually the stress got to him, and when he got forcibly fired from yet another job, he collapsed and prayed for some sort of salvation....which earned him entry into Sybal Heim.
Now he works as a handyman but pines for home. He's an Insurgent, but a moderate one. Overall he's a mild, gentle person with a terrible sense of black humor.
His Sybal is pretty big, so he has the unfortunate habit of working in people's cellars, forgetting to check the time, and getting stuck down there when the sunset comes.
And he has a fiddle and aΒ pet chicken.
...And that's what I have! Oh, and I have stuff for his Sybal too, but I typed a big wall already. XD

Leunbrund In reply to birdmir [2016-07-15 13:01:14 +0000 UTC]
HMMMMM interesting Sybal design. Is there a creature in faerie lore that you were looking to base it off of, or is it something more from your mind?
Marron would definitely sympathize this guy. Being something of an Irish mutt himself, they would share a mother tongue, and I think he'd be amused to hear about how America has changed since he was there. Plus, Marron himself struggled with the 'hopping from job to job' thing for a little over a century before finding his current line of work, so he gets that too haha.
What's Serieadan's reason for leaning Insurgent? If he pines for home but it was stressing him out so much that he ran away, what is it that he misses specifically?

birdmir In reply to Leunbrund [2016-07-15 17:32:39 +0000 UTC]
Thank you~ There is actually is! It's called a....uh....um, I forgot.
I thought Marron and he might have a connection, though Sher is a lot slower paced and more at home with quiet people. He wouldn't mind talking about America and Ireland, though he'd definitely get a little mopey, haha.Β
When he wants go home, it's to Ireland itself. He doesn't care for America, and he missed his family the moment he took to the ship. The missing didn't start in Sybal Heim, Β but when he left Ireland. SH is worse to him because at least in New York, he had the possible small chance of going back to Dublin. In this city, he's permanently stuck (as far as he can tell.). As for specifics, it's really his mother and little sisters, but the overall landscape and memories of childhood he left in Ireland.
Oh, and I'm not too sure I'd call it running away? He left Ireland because of the famine and money, and went into the forest because he sensed it would give him a respite from the stress. He didn't realize it'd be a permanent thing.

*nodnod* that all makes sense.
Marron tells me if Sher would like (and makes it in come opening, of course), he'd take him out for drinks at Connor's and see if he can't introduce him to a few good old Irish sods to help the transition. The green shores are only as far away as Sher wants them to be. = w =
