Description ~Fun with gravity~

A little animation fun with text and gravity. I modeled everything in 3DSMAX and animated in Poser. The blue cone doesn't fall correctly because I simplified collision detection to speed up the animation. Nontheless it's fun, fun, fun!! ^_______^

I prefer to keep MAX only for modeling, because Poser makes animation easier at the cost of versatility. It's a give an take.

Did you use a special plugin to create that gravity effect?

The gravity effect was created using the same PhysX plugin from my other animations. ^^

Sorry for the delay, but it seems like you replied to your own message and I was not notified. I found this by accident today.

Thanks, the fun is when people don't expect the letters to fall.

I love how it looks like sketchy animation, but then it is so perfectly 3d.

Thank you! That's the impression I wanted to give with this animation, but I guess you are one of the few who could see it my way.

Nice crayon effect on the render, but it's kinda too bad the first run lags.

You could have put a preloader or, even better, uploaded this as a movie to avoid it.

This is actually a flash movie, but flash only plays after pre-loading the first page - which in this case is the entire movie.

Where the heck is the spline tool in 3D max? I have it at school but no one will teach me any of it > I have to work with dumb architecture stuff.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ken1171 In reply to Gothic--Rouge [2008-05-16 12:35:43 +0000 UTC]

To create splines in 3DSMAX, just go to the create tab and look at the little icons on the top. The 2nd one from the left is for lines and splines.

Gravity defying CONE and D!!
The D bounced back and wobbled on its egde.

So how did you do this?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ken1171 In reply to AcanthAI [2008-05-16 07:53:51 +0000 UTC]

The "D" actually collided with the exclamation point that was falling before it. That's why it bounced back.
I ran a physics simulation with a bunch of 3D models I created in 3DSMAX inside Poser 7.
With my new quadCore it executed in a few seconds, so it was almost in real-time.
Really fun!! ^___^

ken1171 In reply to AcanthAI [2008-05-16 12:34:11 +0000 UTC]

I've got "Poser Physics" for free when I upgraded to Poser7 at Content Paradise. It's a plugin that allows both physics and ragdoll simulations, and I love it!

AcanthAI In reply to ken1171 [2008-05-16 12:39:40 +0000 UTC]

I bought Poser7 itself, can I still get the Poser Physics?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ken1171 In reply to AcanthAI [2008-05-16 12:43:00 +0000 UTC]

I pre-ordered Poser7 about half a year before it was released, and Content Paradise gave me coupon that I later used to buy Poser Physics. You can buy the plugin anyways - it's available there at CP. ^^

That's a relief! no polygon should be harmed during the making of CG movies! they have their rights tooooo! (and their lefts... and their normals.... and their speculars... XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD)

Schieben [2008-05-16 03:12:56 +0000 UTC]

The "bounce" isn't right either - they would have to be either incredibly soft (in which case they would deform when they hit) or incredibly dense and heavy, (in which case they wouldn't bounce even the little that they do)

The letters "bounce" better than the solids, but they are off a bit as well.

ken1171 In reply to Schieben [2008-05-16 04:53:23 +0000 UTC]

Consider this is a web animation where at least 40% of the frames were removed for faster loading times sake.
