~If Penguins Could Fly~And now for something completely different, here goes my very first music composition. It's a slow ballad in the key of Db that I created for one of my game projects. I have 4 other songs nearly completed as well, and I wanted to show at least one here in my gallery. For that I created this silly penguin animation with an even sillier title.
Anyway, what I wanted to show here is the music, not the animation, so don't mind it too much. ^_^The original composition had 75 bars, but for file size considerations I reduced this online version down to only 40 bars, and then compressed it to not-so-great 96KHz MP3 format. In the end, I could get a 3:30 minutes animation with full music track for only 3.75Mb, which is pretty small all things considered.

I've started this gallery as an "Anime purist", but after a couple of years it started to feel too restraining. That's when I started to try different styles, and then mixes of them. The same happened to music I made ever since. ^^

I like that you take into consideration file size. This is very relaxing to listen to. I think you got the right amount of quality versus file size.

Thanks! That's one thing I like about Flash - it has all the tools to help developers have more control over performance and file sizes. I believe most people will not wait if contents take long to load, so all of my deviations (in all medias) have the smallest possible file size while trying to keep acceptable quality. I do that in my personal web site too. ^^

I love the music, you are of many talents. You spoke of a game project. What is that?

Thank you! The game project is a story telling adventure game in Japanese style. It's like an interactive graphic novel, and this is the music theme for one of the characters. The game engine is currently being re-written from Object Pascal to ActionScript3, so there will be some time before there is something to show. ^^

When you create a game, you have to write a story, adapt it to a script, create a game engine (programming), music, sound effects, characters, background locations, it's crazy how many hats one has to wear! ^^

lol. that is so cool. i just left it - assuming it would take awhile to download and carried on surfacing the net on another page. was a good five minutes when i realised that i was really relaxed and that there had been music playing in the background. turns out the animation had loaded in like a second and had been playing all that time! thanks for making my day a little brighter! lol! nice penguins too! very cute!!

I am really happy you liked the music, because dA doesn't allow posting music alone as a deviation here, so I had to make an animation out of it. But this was just an excuse for me to show this little tune I composed myself - my very first original music! 
I noticed you like superheroes, and I recently gave it a try and created the "Scarlet Devil" [link] which is a mix of Dare Devil with Captain America and the Catwoman. ^_^

Thank you! So far the only version available is the flash animation because dA does not allow music to be uploaded directly. That's why my new music is disguised as an animation in the flash section.
