Indeed it is time! If you have an oppertunity to go I'd recommend some other season than summer...way too many people and while still a beautiful place, summer's leaf is not as stunning as the snow or autumn color or spring's new buds!!

I've only been to Yosemite one other time and from southern California you come in a different way - that way is the long tunnel and you open out to that incredible "Tunnel View". A more intimate view than this one...this is the way in from Northern CA and isn't quite as spectacular - can't see Bridal Veil falls etc. but still pretty stunning at sunset

breath taking no matter what the view, but I do agree that tunnel view hits you right in the solar plexis....I managed to get a couple shots of it, I think probably from the northern side of the park with the light hitting it...I should look those photos up in the album, but I think they are closer views of your shot....did I use the telephoto lens?....can't remember. I took about 12 rolls of film with me on that trip, and came home with 19....unfortunately I let the airport people tell me the x-ray equipment wouldn't hurt the film and the rolls that went through both directions (I think it was probably the double exposure) came out looking somewhat faded. It's the only explanation I can find for the resulting images. Wonderful trip and the kids were so good 13 and 15, 14 and 16? They didn't bicker a bit. I thought it was because they were enjoying it so much, and they did. It wasn't until sometime later, 2 or 3 years, that I learned that James threatened them to behave, for my sake!

How sad for you with the messing of your film - I wonder if you could scan the negatives and play with them on photoshop

I don't think Photoshop would help...it seems that the darks are weak....well, maybe it would, and I do have the film and a negative scanner...

Thanks, David! Not quite the same 'everybody get's it' shot - this is the view from the Northern CA entrance - Southern CA comes in the "Tunnel View" way where you can see Bridal Veil falls and more of the valley...both stunning

I'd only ever gone into the Park from Southern CA (and that was 30 years ago) so I kept waiting for that incredible "tunnel view" with Bridal Veil - took me a bit to realize I wasn't 'mis-remembering' but this was a different road
