I'm not an expert in any part of HDR type photography, but I use +2 0 and -2 and depending on the type scene here I would have shot a -3 on this one. Do you just change the shutter speed? In HDR photography your range should be quite high. Recommendations for the D300 are +2 +1 0 -1 -2. That should give you an 8 EV range and eliminate the dark spots.
Sorry if you already know this stuff, the photos are great.

Believe me, you'll still feel the effects. Saw a show on it on (History?) and if it does go kaboom, the whole world is screwed.
