Description
I am struck by these ancient towers, scatted across the prairie. The technology they represent, these megalithic structures, our passing world leave behind. Once, these towers were important and vital to the survival of our people. Now, they are a home for rot, trees, and a grim spectacle of a time now past.

I particularly enjoy looking at ruins. When you re purpose them, you lose what they were originally built for and the history becomes lost. Relics are good for they serve to remind us of days gone past and how the world has changed for good or ill

It really is too bad that we can't go in, fortify the old structures and re-purpose them into something useful again. Was this structure a silo?

Yes one of Many in our area. But due to a change in tec, and Demographic Winter, they are no longer needed.
they can be repurposed, housing and storage are very possible. But again... no one to live there.

Turn it solar (if you get enough sun) and be able to have a get away off the grid!

Again, food and a job. Boondocks are fine, but you need purpose.

I think that is where having a getaway verses living there all the time would be ideal. Having a place to get away from it all and that getaway being something re-purposed is a win-win. Or use it as a photo-prop for some awesome photo shoots too! *says the photographer in me*

Beautiful thought! All of it. But.... "this future past" is not over yet. I have others in the series I have not yet published... along those very lines you describe. Also.. som more disturbing ones I haven't made up my mind about yet.
