Description This piece is all pastel. Most all of my work has people or faces in them, but this was something different. I had just completed a couple of drawings for hire and wanted to do something more "free" and just for me. I did this piece with a photo as a reference. The photo was taken in my neighbor's yard and of her iris. My neighbor, "Connie" has a lovely yard and a garden; her flowers and kindness were my motivation. This piece was titled after her.

This is a lovely piece, I love the compliments working here with the blue hues and oranges...well done I've been working in pastels for about a year now, and enjoy painting floral as well as other things. It's nice to see more vibrant color being used in pastel paintings!

The "movement" is something that has just happened. I began to see it forming naturally in some earlier pieces and now I seem to lean that way. Maybe it is comes from my strange way of seeing things.

Yes Kitty, it has almost been a year already since your bundle of joy arrived. Time goes by quickly. She will be in school before you know it.

Thanks, what shocked me the most is I already have someone that wants to purchase the piece. Maybe that will happen. In the mean time I have an art competition that takes place this week. I have two pieces in that one ("Andrea" and "City Girls"). Wish me luck.

Thanks, I have heard that before too. I believe I use my strokes a bit longer than his. Too bad the price tag doesn't go along with that as well.
