Super awesome, looks like you have some knowledge about architecture styles, what do you have to say about the creative process behind the making of the castlle? what style(s) do you think was borrowed for the design?

Bro, Very awesome job you've made! May we collab in the future someday? I really need a background artist for the upcoming MLP movie.

Great! This even has the stained glass windows. I have always been interested in what is on those windows, so this is a big bonus to the piece.

Glad you're back man. I love your works, especially from an architectural standpoint. Speaking of which...
"gave the whole thing a renaissance architecture feel, or at least tried to..."
*puts on architecture student hat*
- Main columns are monolithic. Renaissance columns tended to be multi-parted, attempting to appear as if tiny columns held up huge weights.
+ Columns are inset from the edges, meaning that the roof vault is separate from the actual walls. Good.
~ Columns support pointed arches, ending in clearstory windows. That's more European Christian than renaissance, but you can get away with it. They were technically the same time period.
+ Windows and arches all end in pointed arches. Good.
+ Uniformly sized vaulted ceiling with entrailed edges. Also good.
So, three +s, a ~, and a -. That brings you out as +2. I say successful.

Yeah, I'm usually on every other day, but I've got midterms coming up next week and it's killing me. Just typed up 50 pages of notes for a class where the midterm on Thursday is worth 50% of my grade.
*sigh
but Friday starts spring break. I can't say I have big plans, but I do have plans, and you lot will see them.
Back on topic... I love it when people think so highly of my opinion like this I try to be a Jack (of all trades, since most people don't know the shorthand), but architecture is something I'm actually studying. For this image, you've gotten about as renaissance as you can get without changing things from the show. And you're right, Canterlot is a very renaissance town. Cloudsdale is Greek, and Ponyville is western midcentury surf. No technical term for that last one, and I don't feel like finding one since it's actually changing. If you look, the show starts with most of the buildings being white with wood crossbeams in the front and thatched roofs, but as the show goes on the buildings in the background become more and more unique and individual, even when unimportant. I love that. In fact, if you're looking for a next project, I've been kinda fascinated with the townscape behind... oh hell I forget who it was... but they were walking through Ponyville with all these decorations and tents put up everywhere... Eh, if you want me to I can find the actual episode number and whatnot, but the key take-away idea is the animators seem to care more about the background!
