I actually started this one about a year ago, and then recently added a few more things (like the 2nd leg on the dead figure lol which is reffed I'll come back and link to it). It was my first real go at putting the hours into a painting, and though I wish it was better, I learnt ALOT from painting it.My Dark Crystal. 60cm x 90cm, oil.
And wierdly, I've never been able to get a good photo of it - they always turn out grainy with the right colour, or sharp and the wrong colour! So I've gone for the right colour and grainy lol Later I will put up one that is more in focus, of course then it will be more neutral grey colour which is wrong but you can see more of the rubbish i.e coke bottles etc

Ok! Here goes!
First, the detail in this is amazing. The detailing on Death's chair is so finely done.
The colors are wonderful for this - so dark and gloomy for Death, his chair and the junkyard (a place I would be loathe to visit) and then the angels are bright and warm. Death's list is nicely drawn as well - well-shaded and colored.
I really only have one nitpick - the person in Death's lap. They don't match the rest of the painting in style or detail. I don't know if you did that on purpose or not, but I feel like something is lost when I look at that part of this piece.

Heh heh, you know what my first thought was when I saw the list? Santa, checking the list, going through it twice. Except it's death so the prezzie ain't going to be pleasant.

This is breathtaking. I love the detail.
This is ominious, dark and mysterious. But with the lightening of the sky, it gives it a feeling of hope to rise from the darkness below. Just awesome. I love it.
Within your work, you always manage to show good with in darkness on this style. You are awesome.

This is such an Excellent piece of work. The person being held in the arms of death has such a peaceful facial expression. I love how you put, what appears as a painting, behind the death chair which is entangled in roots and bone. The long list death is reading could be the life of the person they are holding. The way death has his head down shows possibly a mourning feeling. I could go on and on. I love it!
